I am an avowed Arsenal fan but cannot stand Eboue. He was an ok right back but right midfielder he ain't and his violence is embarrassing. In a team with Fabregas, Rosicky and Hleb in the middle it's nuts the best we/africa can do is that thug. Maybe we could get hold of the Barnsley right winger, that cross for the first against the Scousers was amazing.

But with a sense of perspective, even if we win FA this year that's about what was expected what with all our players being 12.

(edited for typo)

Liverpool 1 - 1 Inter Milan

Olympiakos 0 - 1 Chelsea

Arsenal 1 - 0 AC Milan

Celtic 0 - 1 Barcelona

Lyon 1 - 1 Man Utd

how is that for conservative predictions - if I was doing it as a schoolboy there would be at least 18 goals over the five games with Arsenal getting 5.

As a result of family commitments and illness I've not been able to post anything at all over the last few days. I've no complaints at all about the outcome of saturdays result. We were very, very poor, Eboue was his usual self, Wenger made it clear before the game the FA cup was not on his list of priorities, but we fans rate it very highly especailly when we are playing our major rival. We made exactly the same mistake when we palyed spurs in the Carling Cup, Wenger might not take it seriously but fans do. Nonetheless, well done to Man Ure. We can do no more but focus on the next game. At least we went out playing against a premiership side, although that is scant consolation.

Nice to see everyone is giving us a chance tonight then :-S

I should point out that last time we finished 5th behind Everton, we did actually lift this trophy, beating some bloody good teams (and Chelsea) along the way!

I'm not being over confident, but I think we can get a result, at least in the home leg...

Basically, like all too many of Liverpool's games this season, it will all depend on Stevie G, Carra and Torres. If they are on form, we have a good chance. If they are not, we may well be found wanting. We need more strength in depth! Anyway, good luck to all the Brit Teams, especially The Pool, and Celtic who have a hell of a test!

See Keef, as I said in my earlier posting, what do I know!!! Well done pool, SG's goal was a corker.

Very proud of the boys last night. The sending off may have made Inter less likely to win it, but it DEFINITELY made it a hell of a lot harder for Liverpool to win it. Good to see them keep up a great pace throughout and tire their opponents.

Why can't we do this in domestic competitions though?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?

Chelsea didn't get an away goal, so will need to be careful at home.

Good luck to tonight's teams!

Only thing that annoys me is that Liverpool have to wait 3 weeks for the return leg cos both Milans are drawn at home for the second leg :(

Didn't see all of it, but Arsenal could have had a hatrick in the last 20 minutes or so that I watched! Hitting the bar in injury time was just painful, hope they can go and do the job. At least no away goal conceeded, so 1 goal over there could be enough...

Sorry for Celtic, having taken the lead twice against Barca.

My son is in Barcelona at the moment and they were watching the Celtic game and then the Arse game, I called him from the Emirates and he said that they all booed loudly when Henry scored, which apparently didn't go down well with the locals, especailly as they were wearing Arsenal home shirts. He's a lad, my boy. ;-)

    • Don't see an issue at all. Siunds like the protest is being made by friends and families of the two off licences, Morleys, pret and maxim chicken who are within 100 m of the school. Much ado about nothing. Besides if it doesn't proceed, the kids will walk a but further!!
    • Whilst I agree to some extent,  are they going to have some kind of checkpoint?  I can't see how this could work in practice. Surely Southwark residents go to these places quite frequently as well, particularly Tate Modern?  Will we have to take proof of residency every time we go out? What happens when family are with us who don't live in Southwark? Will other London boroughs start doing the same thing? Will Southwark residents be charged a tourist tax to visit "tourist attractions" in other areas, eg the V&A and the British Museum?
    • A shout out for Mark, owner of Pure Plumbers. 07970 971510 They're well established in the Sevenoaks area, but have recently started doing more work in SE London.  Did some v quick and efficient bathroom and boiler fixes for me; have also seen some of the bathrooms he's built, which have a nice attention to detail. • Totally agree regarding not supporting chains. Gail’s was fine but last time I went in Feb this year, actually walked out Fayetteville looking at menu and waiting 15 minutes to even get glass of water and not busy at all. Staff gone down hill - sooner it goes the better… Always prefer to support non chains - so many lovely places with good food to choose from with pleasant staff who know about customer service and sadly, non English which says a lot for our culture, pubs are also becoming abit of a hit and miss affair but maybe just unlucky. At the end of the day all about the chef. Still abit unclear where new place is located - is it down the road from Goose Green where parade of shops are before Peckham Rye?
