And pool fans wonder why people like to see them get beat.

Once again, the Arse turn over the Spuds ( a top 4 side......well they think, they are) Never mind, there's always next season, or the season after, or the season after that, or...............................

very good PeckhamGateCrasher - I like that...

on a more serious note, I'm glad we got the 3 points yesterday but we were poor and a supposedly weakened Spurs team defended much much better than they have so far this season... in short, we were lucky. And that's ok, teams vying for the title need luck sometimes

I heard the dicussions on Sky yesterday and apparently it wasn't just a guess - the Arsenal team had discussed Keane's penalty taking before the game and knew that Keane likes keepers to commit before kicking the ball - that's why Almunia stayed up for so long and chose correctly

That said the penalty wasn't up to his usual standard and could easily have gone past Almunia had it been better

Not the same as saying we were second best for 90 minutes is it? And we're still top of the league. Something Spuds will not experience for many moons. Two class goals from a class team. >:D<

Equally most penalty takers will tell they will pick a spot and go for it. You seem to be implying that a goal keepers skill is in some way inferior to that of a penalty taker. As someone who still plays( or tries to at 50 years of age), and has a son who can play as an outfield player or in goal, I can assure you that it is not. As a penalty taker you have to outwit the keeper by scoring. Keane failed to to do so. That is not being smug, but a plain and simple fact.

I thought Spurs performance was pretty good. We defended very well with a makeshift defence. First half was quite dull and fought out in the midfield but I thought for the first 20 minutes or so of the second half we were the better team. Berbatov's well taken goal from an acute angle was pure class. Still, Keane blew it for us by missing the penalty. We lost, the best team won. Simply really. Still bloody hurts though.

Atila I was just trying to spread some Christmas love!

    • For a while there was an unexpected glitch in planning laws that meant phone box operators (which is obviously mostly BT, but there were others) didn't need council permission to replace call boxes with small electronic billboards, so long as you could make calls from the billboard. I *think* the one on the corner of Croxted Rd and Park Hall Rd is an example of that. So the operators weren't always in a rush to remove the call boxes even when they didn't make any money on calls. I don't know if it still works like this. https://www.local.gov.uk/about/news/lga-call-crackdown-trojan-telephone-boxes-amid-900-cent-rise-some-areas
    • It is just a witch hunt. The estate agent has taken responsibility. FFS leave the poor woman alone. ETA: And please  stop calling her Rachel. You don't call Starmer Keir.
    • As said, why are you not eating humble pie for a non-story? I expect that scores of landlords are unaware or made mistakes in this territory.  And this is not just the Chancellor but a married couple.  It feels like you and others are taking joy in demonising her. The only question would be is the house suitable for renting out?  I expect it is, and if not that is up to Southwark to take action rather than keyboard warriors.  The only surprises are the expense of licensing - surely time for a thread on "is licensing a money maker for local authorities?".  I'm being facetious.  And that the cost of rental, which feels fairly reasonable based on this area. By all means go after rogue landlords.  Be my guest.  I was horrified to see some of the properties rented in London and beyond by family members.  Not all bad. Oh and another question.  Haven't I got better things to do than comment on this 'no story here' thread?  😁
