I know little of cricket, being of Irish stock, not my fault of course but there we are.

Samuel Beckett was quite the follower of leather upon willow, though.

And he counted for quite a bit in the theatre.

Whether that meant as much or more to Max Wall when he played 'Krapp' or when he was a support act to Mott The Hoople, it's of course difficult to say.

Anyway, the point, if indeed point I have one is to suggest a 'tribute' cricket team, one that goes and plays other cricket teams, perhaps in 'classic' matches. If such things exist.

I don't know who could 'play' him, but I'm going with the team with 'Fiery' Trueman adopting the name 'Right Fred's Dead'.

Oh, Krapp, I just realised that 'Right Fred's Dead' would likely as not be the name of a Queen tribute band, would that be what Trueman might have sidled toward?

Happen not.

But Queen tribute band, there tha goes, so tha does.

I reckon allus is, is as it was, an' all that were nowt, were thraped from't start.

See if I'm not right.

If it isn't, then I don't know my somewhat irreverent tribute bands, and let's face it I do.

ABBRAcadabra, 'the magic of the 70s', Pink Fluid, 'Comfortably Numb' with paraffin, Docksy Music, the band that's there lining up when the Ferry comes into the harbour, Durian Duran, they stink at first, but then despite it all there's a sweetness, 'Save A Prayer', mmmm, OK.

I'm not even going near What The Hoople and their nod to Mary Whitehouse, with 'All The Young Prudes'.

Still.

    • It was indeed in the vicinity of DKH. I live on the ED estate and I could tell it must be close by because of the noise. When I left my house this morning I found the culprits litter still in the middle of the st. It looked like they had lit a whole box on fire in the middle of the road. My cat jumped out of her skin. I’ll try and report it on Southwark website same as I have had to with other illegal use this week. Any other ideas for what we can do with the photos? Maybe one of the Southwark councillors. It’s outrageous and dangerous behaviour.
