why is there a sudden influx of cats and kittens for sale or being offered for adoption on the For Sale section. I thought this was against the remit of this forum.

Maybe its a bit like having pampas grass in your front garden in the 70s

A lady advertises a cat or kitten for sale, invites gentlemen callers around to see her "cat" and then asks money for it...

Of course I could be totally wrong but it's a good rumour if ever I heard one !

Did Admin just remove loads of posts? I didn't see any sales... or maybe I just missed them.

Offering animals for free (eg rehoming) is permitted afaik.

There is a guideline for selling animals...

From Admin, in the Sales section-

Animals can only be sold if there's a link to them listed on another reputable website

There was quite a lengthy discussion on this a while back. Free animals are fine. Selling needs to be linked to a site such as the webpage of an established or registered breeder. I believe this was intended to deter the inappropriate sale or purchase of animals.

My tuppence worth - giving away animals is fine if you use a bit of common sense. For instance, a long-term forum user who teaches piano is unlikely to have a secret sideline in dog fighting.

I agree zenoria. I've recently adopted two delightful rescued kittens through Celia Hammond. I would highly recommend adopting through them.
