Can anyone else hear this? I live on Crystal Palace Rd and it sounds like it's coming from the street behind which is Ulverscroft.

It sounds like an alarm clock but it's been going on for hours so it cant be.

Or am I actually a cylon and I'm about to find out I've been one all my life and just never knew?

xxxxxxx

A year or so back I phoned the council because there was a dog in Crystal Palace Road which appeared to be left in the garden a lot and barked continuously while there. It came to a head one day when there was a thunderstorm and the poor thing was howling and appeared to be terrified.

The council sorted this out very quickly, apparently the owner had not realised the dog was barking, as he left it in the garden when he went out :-S

They tracked the house down, spoke to the owner and it never happened again.

I can't remember what department of the council dealt with it - I had originally phoned the RSPCA and they told me to phone the council - but I'm sure the switchboard will know.

    • So what is the issue? You want compensation for the loss of value, or you want to expedite the matter?
    • No. What happened? I actually thought, considering it was what we used to call Guy Fawkes Day last night, the loud noises from  fireworks ended remarkably early. About 9pm? Maybe I just fell asleep and didn't hear any later ones. Do people actually burn Guys any more? Apart from at places like Lewes, where I believe they still have Bonfire Societies and burn effigies of various political figures etc.
    • The accompaniment to our "Christmas Pudding" aka Nothing-Whatever-Like-A- Christmas-Pudding last year  at The Cherry Tree was "brandy butter ice-cream." If it had ever been near any brandy, the brandy must have been waved in its direction from a very great distance. Same with butter. The ice cream tasted like bog standard "vanilla" from a catering tub. At least it did bear some resemblance to ice cream. Whereas the "Christmas Pudding" bore no resemblance whatever to any Christmas Pudding I have ever seen or tasted in my many  decades of seeing and tasting Christmas Puddings. Oh, and Cinzano Bianco. Bleurgh. My sister used to drink that. 🤢
