  1. The club is really good fun and a great swimming work out. It's really nice to swim with your kids too
  2. We are running a digital election for under 18s today and we need more voters! If there are any under 18s in your house get them in the habit of voting here: http://theday.co.uk/election-2015/the-student-vote
  3. No that's the old police station on Lordship Lane. See this other thread: http://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/forum/read.php?5,1407407,page=5
  4. Those hoardings make me feel violent every time I pass them. Have you seen them? Every time I pass them I'm more and more convinced that the hoardings and the words and images used represent everything wrong with ED, London, the South of England and indeed the known universe. Here's why: 1. They use the word upscale. Here meaning 'better than yours' 2. They put the cedilla on the word FACADE. Here meaning 'really really fancy front' 3. There is a picture of a deck chair in the aspirational imagery. For that is the one thing that will fit into the tiny square of space between the 4 upscale apartments and the 5 stylish new-build townhouses 4. Things in the local area they mention on the hoarding #1: Dulwich College - because where else would you send your upscale stylish new-build child? it's only 2 MILES away after all. 5. Things in the local area they mention on the hoarding #2: Dulwich Picture Gallery - It's so local! Things they don't mention in images or words on the hoarding but really say East Dulwich to me: Goose Green playground Peckham Rye Foxes Iceland, Lidl or Co-op Pushchair rage in Cafe Nero
  5. Is this in the pool that is actually within the school grounds - on Townley Road?
  6. Anyone else having a power cut? We are on Crystal Palace Road
  7. Hi there, I am working on a project at National Schools Partnership http://www.nationalschoolspartnership.com/ We work on educational projects for many different clients. We are currently looking for a small group (up to 8) girls aged 10/11 and another small group of girls aged 14/15 to take part in a filming project to produce some vox pops for PSHE school resources that we are developing. The vox pops would be part of an education website that we are developing for our client. We can offer the girls ?25 each in high street vouchers for taking part. The filming should take no more than a couple of hours depending how many girls are involved. If this is something you are interested in please call Rachel on 020 7198 8374 or email me on [email protected] Thanks
  8. Definitely a 3 jumper case. Just caught up with last night. Too addicted. White jumper didn't do it.
  9. Love this thread. Love the Killing. Love the jumper. But am actually experiencing a small fashion crush on Pernille now too. Also love her wide eyed grief stricken lip twitching. She has a great kind of jacket and jeans look going on which could be a little bit too Boden on the wrong woman but she manages to make it kind of cool and edgy.
  10. Hi there Balance is a tricky thing to get right and requires some trial and error. I would say if possible keep your options open if you have a previous employer as you have much stronger rights and the ability to negotiate than if you go into a brand new role after having kids. 1. I did go back to work and certainly enjoyed the return to independence and conversations not about kids 2. Flexibility is great. I had some. Push for as much as you can from your employer. Remember it's in their interest to keep you as you know the business, have experience and are valuable to them. 3. Working from home good, but not whilst looking after the child unless you can really break it into nap sized chunks or evenings and rely on your partner. 4. It maybe a good time for a career change but hang onto the job you have whilst researching this if possible. 5. I would say, go back to work but get as much flexibility as you can and then see if you still want a change. It can be good to go back somewhere where you know everyone and you know what you are doing. Also I am going to plug women like us which is a social enterprise that helps mums get back to work after children. (I also work for them sometimes) They offer workshops, one to one advice on all the issues on this thread but currently their funding for this free support only lasts til the end of March, so go to: http://www.womenlikeus.org.uk/home.aspx to register to see if you qualify for their support. If not they have a great jobs board with part time and flexible roles.
  11. I am scared to read the other thread too in case of spoilers as I am loving the Killing and finding it very hard to think about my actual life......such is the time I devote to musing over the apparent set up of Troels, Lund's mystery stalker, the trip that Jens and the mayor went on and of course what the missing persons files will reveal. Does the other thread have spoilers or is everyone watching in real time?
  12. Sounds interesting, Can I be an extra?
  13. sad sad sad about Jimi! should have been Michelle, or Ann. I'm totally over Ann now, she is reactionary old tory and she'd had enough of our screen time!
  14. Yes and to all those on Crystal Palace Rd, Rodwell (loads of very well carved pumpkins) Pellat and Landells. Very happy kids, loads of stash, still scoffing it all today. Thanks folks!
  15. Mr Roar and the miniroars all in agreement about loving the Strictly. Quite sad about cute little Tina and the even cuter little bloke. Felicity should have gone I think! agree about the botox, it is quite a 'coming up' look it's given her. Rooting for Matt & Aliona but Patsy is really growing on me, totally agree about the wedding dancing though, that's part of the charm. Gavin, Felicity or Michelle to go next week.
  16. Great story Sillywoman and a fantastic thing to post on here.
  17. According to Ofsted its a 'good' school. I have 2 kids there and I think its as good a state school as you are going to find in the area. There are some great teachers and it's a very nice community of parents & kids. But it's oversubscribed. Where do you live? Also they have an open day coming up in November I think, and the head does tours on Wednesday mornings sometimes, you have to book for those I think.

    Spooks

the bomb defusing was particularly good last night. I thought it was a matter of disconnecting the correct wire, agonising over red or blue for 2 minutes, then going with red with 2 seconds to spare, but times have changed. Now you need to melt some stuff, and watch out for the red flashing light. I wonder how long before Spooks are able to access the amazingly lifelike masks they used in Face Off and MI films? Do you think someone from the CIA could come over and give them a training course on it?
  19. Can anyone else hear this? I live on Crystal Palace Rd and it sounds like it's coming from the street behind which is Ulverscroft. It sounds like an alarm clock but it's been going on for hours so it cant be. Or am I actually a cylon and I'm about to find out I've been one all my life and just never knew?
  20. True. A lot like the annoying Q. I think we'll be seeing him again. I stuck it out til the end though. It wasnt all bad. The pensioners were funny.
  21. Pimp my babyride? This is the second branch after the Clapham one did so well
  22. Mothers who are thinking about going back to work did you know that you can get free help and support from Women Like Us, an award winning social enterprise? I have put the full ad in the classifieds: http://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/forum/read.php?25,425517
