Goose Green Fair - Thank You!

A huge thank you to the thousands of people who turned up today to share the sun and join in with Goose Green Primary School's Carnival and Summer Fair. We estimate that over two thousand people joined with us to celebrate the fantastic achievements of this local primary school.

Thank you to all the mums, dads, carers, teachers and children who helped make this the biggest and best Carnival Parade and Fair ever! And a special thank you to the London Fire Brigade for coming and showering us all with cool water in the midday sun.

It was such a lovely day. We were in the Carnival Parade for the first time with my daughter- such fun and she was rightly proud of all her lovely schoolmates and teachers.

Our first carnival too. We just loved the carnival procession and had such a great day on the Green. What fantastic weather and lovely atmosphere. Very proud. x

Well done all of you who made it happen, I was at work today but it was going full swing when I returned; a lovely traditional summer fair. I walked the dog this evening and you've left the Green even tidier than it was before!

Thank you Ann for your lovely comments! Yes, we were all very conscious to do a through clean up but as the old saying goes 'many hands make light work' and the PTA carnival committee was able to retire to the pub by 6pm after clearing the green - which was only possible due to all the volunteers who helped to clear up - not to mention the fantasitic volunteer drivers who loaded things in the van (donated by John Allen flowers) and took things back to the school. It was a fantastic day - great atmosphere with kids, parents, teachers, residents all joining in the fun. Thanks to all the community for your support of Goose Green Primary School!

It was great that Southwark Council, for the first time, managed to get recycling containers to the Green for our fair. And they did come at the end of the day to collect all the black bin bags so that the foxes can't get into them over night and the rubbish blows all over the Green.

It'd be great to have one of those recycling containers on the Green permanently.
