Or a train from Forest Hill might be easier...

I would go with the cab plan, as Pies says, it shouldn't be more than ?8... That said, I always get charged ?7 to go home to Sydenham, and end up giving them a tenner because I feel to tight to sit there waiting for my change... Silly I know.

Went EDT, Inside 72 and Cherry something.

Inside 72 was best but EDt had real beer.

Loads of girls out drinking- a bit like Whitley Bay.

Will be looking for another excuse for a Camberwell Palace Summit on the Lane in the not too distant future.

We did get abused by a drunk bird out with her g.b.f. in Indside 72. My mate told him to reign in his bird and he promptly went for a twenty minute poo. She was leathered and really I'm sure she just wanted to play but could only manage a few slurred insults.

Good evening but only 4 pints before the 12.01 exit.

Thanks for all your help and advice Forumfolk.

  • 3 weeks later...

Iv lived in east dulwich for 14 years and been to all the pubs and bars on lordship lane and seen them change over the years, but never have i hated one place and one owner as i do now, i was a reguler at the vale most weekends and was never a fan of the owner (TONY, chubby fella with white hair). many times iv observed the way he acts in the typical manner of power having gone to his head. entering the vale i was turned away and told it was full as i was with two other men, two minutes later a group of woman walk in no problem, my wife came out to talk to me and as she went to go back inside tony said, and i quote " get ur bag and coat and you can f**k off aswell" before hiding behind b ouncers may i add.

is that a way to talk to people, word on the street is havin acted in this way with many people it has become very quiete down ther,

Welcome big b.

Your story doesn't surprise me, that's exactly how I've seen him act on a number of occasions. I won't touch the place with a barge pole and I know that's true of quite a number of others, put off by his high-handed behaviour.

Your talk of it being empty has veritably made my day. The sooner it becomes a financial drain, the sooner he'll be tempted to sell up and a proper publican can run it.

Oh and here we like to call it NTV (Never The Vale) :))

My brother DJ'd there a couple of times a while ago (he quit when he realised what an awful place it is). The manager asked him not to play and hip hop or R&B, because he didn't want the "wrong type" of people coming in... I'm sure we all know what he meant...

He's a c**t. That's all I have to say about the bloke right now.

Hope someone smacks him full in the face one day, and that his glasses break in his eyes. Maybe that's a bit harsh, and I probably don't really want that to happen (the glasses bit), but I wouldn't lose any sleep if it did!

Also, welcome Big B. I recommend the CPT :)-D

    • I'm guessing they're busy. I found out just now that the SNT has tracked down the kids who attacked my dog, had strong words with their parents, and the gang has now broken up. I got a lot of detail, which I won't go into here, but it sounds as if they were also quite compassionate towards some of the kids, who came from less than optimal backgrounds, shall we say.  I know that those kids had nothing to do with the attack of the man in August and that they are also aware of the fireworks problem. Sounds like good community policing.
    • I'd rather go to actual local Safer Neighbourhood Team meetings and see the whites of their eyes.  Ours in Peckham Rye Park ward (maps of areas the ward covers are on the police website; no idea about the new one!) used to be very well attended, but sadly now not so.  The local police of the SNT seem to change far too regularly so they never have a chance to really know the area and the people.  And the last meeting, held at the Tenants Hall of Brenchley Gardens (so right on the edge of the geographical area), was held with one day's notice.  Not good.
    • Friends of Peckham Rye Park sent emails to its members (do join if you can; it's useful) saying a few nights ago a fire was started on the SE22 side of the park by kids with fireworks.  Horrific.
    • No One Said It  Was  However spending money you haven't got and increasing national debt is not a great way to run a country now is it ? Or has common sense left you 🤔
