Page 15. He's a local boy, I've definitely seem him around town.

Props to him for his campaign to get himself on telly as much as possible. There should be all sorts on screen, not just young attractive people. Bit sad that he describes himself as 'quite unsightly' though, I'd say he's just normal looking.

(And I don't think there's anything wrong with discussing him on the forum given the nature of his campaign, and the coverage).

I thought madger?s original post was exactly the right way to go about drumming up support and was so well-expressed I nearly signed up, until I remembered I don?t agree (with all of it anyway)

I agree that Goose Green to Budgens is pretty grim on a Friday and Saturday nights ? but if it?s possible to have long drinking hours in other countries, my interest would be in unravelling why it seems to cause such problems here

Oooooooh I do. I do see what they did there. Aren't they clever? They're ever so clever those boys they are. Well done them. I'd have gone and called it something crass like: "Give this part to the little lady so you can read about crime and norks in peace" but see they were MUCH cleverer than that. I'd go so far as to say that's the pinnacle of British journalism, and no mistake.

Don't tell me he's taken up the plight of "The Vanishing Cod"

( that will be the death knell for them )

I can see the "banner" now....

    • Nothing to do with the topic of this thread, but I have to say, I think it is quite untrue that people don't make human contact in cities. Just locally, there are street parties, road WhatsApp groups, one street I know near here hires a coach and everyone in the street goes to the seaside every year! There are lots of neighbourhood groups on Facebook, where people look out for each other and help each other. In my experience people chat to strangers on public transport, in shops, waiting in queues etc. To the best of my knowledge the forum does not need donations to keep it going. It contains paid ads, which hopefully helps Joe,  the very excellent admin,  to keep it up and running. And as for a house being broken into, that could happen anywhere. I knew a village in Devon where a whole row of houses was burgled one night in the eighties.
    • We went to Chern Thai for lunch on Saturday, as we have done quite often, and they were closed, with no sign of life. The sign in the window still says Saturday 12-3, and there was no indication that they would be closed. Can anybody shed any light? We went to Chilli and Garlic on Zenoria Street instead. Their falafel salad bowl is amazing (and amazing value!) but we had been looking forward to a Pad Thai and a pint of Singha! ETA: I am reviving this thread because it is/was  specifically about Chern Thai's opening times!
    • Wow, they didn't hang around after getting their licence approved.
