If you're not feeling thin don't what ever you do go and try on jeans in H&M. I went to get maternity jeans a few months ago when I was at the 'just looking fat' stage and feeling horrible and I tried jeans in my normal size, couldn't get them past my knees! I tried a size bigger and had the same problem. Really didn't need that.

After spending the whole day up and down Oxford St feeling swollen and sick I realised that most stores don't stock their full maternity range and most stuff can only be got online.

I got some fairly nice, cheap stuff from Matalan, and jeans and basics from Next.

I also picked up some fat lady style tunic tops, not actually materntiy that I have just lived in now that the bump is like a small planet and several of my maternity tops are not long enough to go over it and reach the top of my jeans.

Kids really do play up for their parents!

I just went to Bromley and managed to get some Maternity clothes in Pumpkin Patch, Next, Mothercare ( which was rubbish and fell apart after a few washes) and H&M. Have to admit that none of them were my style and I was suprised at the lack of choice we have.

    • Thanks very much for that.   I think the better informed we are, the better our discussions will be. The article contained: "That arrest had quite an impact on the [phone theft] numbers for the following month,” said Green.  Here's another indicator, admittedly a piece of police PR,  of how well-targeted police efforts, mostly invisible to us,  can when successful  seriously affect offending figures: https://news.met.police.uk/news/met-police-drive-down-theft-and-robbery-by-84-percent-in-battersea-and-nine-elms-500495.
    • Another excellent article from Jim Waterson's London Centric reporting https://www.londoncentric.media/p/kitchen-foil-and-algerian-markets?utm_source=substack&utm_medium=email Interesting that there seem to be favoured and repeated routes for phone snatching for particular thieves.  Seems ED might be one of them ☹️
    • Anywhere near the Overground/Windrush due to its excellent transport links.  You will get larger place in SE23 for example that will give you enough spare cash for private school if that's what you really want but states schools generally good, reflecting the demographic  Easy to get to the bustling streets of East Dulwich but in ten years see what happens to Forest Hill centre.  The whole of the area is full of green spaces. Access to East Croydon for days out in the South Coast
