It was open on Sunday... I went in there and things were definitely happening.

I am going to reserve judgement as it was a very quick visit but I would have loved to have seen some cheeses olives and nibbles in their cold counter, but instead they seem rather geared up towards takeaway sandwiches. A curious approach as it is predominantly a residential area and they are competing with cafes like Petitou and Lucis and Richards lunch menus. But I wish them well and I am sure I will use it for last minute veg.

Yes it was a little bit disappointing, really, but I don't think they were quite ready ? it was less a deli than a collection of sandwich fillings in old ice cream tubs and a pile of unopened cardboard boxes. I think it will get better, though, as the couple seemed really nice and really keen to please. I think they just need a bit more stock ? and a bit more time.

Popped in this evening. V. v. sweet people running it. Some curios in the way of fairtrade stuff and persian rose petal pot pourri (slight exagerration for alliterative effect). Some good, tasteful flowers (? - ? as in why in a deli?). The rest wasn't particularly exciting except for some rather yummy looking chocolate brownies.

Nothing offensive however - God bless 'em and all who sail in 'em.

We are hoping to get our Vietnamese Coffee shop at 155 Bellenden rd open soon - still being delayed by solicitors at the moment.

We have been a great success this summer at Hackney's Broadway Market where we do our regular Saturday Saigon Street Cafe, so are looking forward to regular trading in Bellenden, when we will open London's first genuine Vietnamese coffee shop !

Look forward to seeing you eventually

Popped in tonight - very nice man serving, with loads of interesting produce. Business apparently is good, with lots of comments about local support - and the EDF...

He showed us the space in the back which is going to be a cafe, and also told us about the shop across the road is going to be a beauty treatment place. Lots of shops along Bellenden Road are apparently being filled

    • Apologies on the tardy reply, but thank you everyone for your responses and suggestions! Unfortunately I couldn't attend the recent EDF drinks because of work (I know right). But will absolutely keep eyes peeled for the next one and try and come down!
    • Because of the weather which delayed completion with roofer only being able to work certain days, it was up from November - end of January. Went slightly higher than gutters (we also had guttering replaced).
    • It's tough being a courier and the pay which is largely based on the number they deliver is miserable. Hence the staff turnover is high. EFRI was previously branded as HERMES but they had to create a new brand name because of poor performance. We get regular courier deliveries and EVRI are by far the worst. They just drop the parcel at the front door - often without ringing the bell. But worst is when they deliver to the equivalent door number on LL instead of ours on EDG. Best are ParcelForce, DHL and DPD by a wide margin.
    • I know the couple you mean, and she has always been friendly and smiley when delivering to me, but obviously in a hurry, for all the reasons outlined in the thread. My gate is always open, however (unless someone coming to the house closes it when they leave). I can't see the point of gates that have to be opened and shut again every time someone comes to the house. It just seems a waste of time, and it's annoying if you are carrying stuff. And a closed gate  conveys a sort of "my house is my fortress" feel. To me, anyway.
