PipW
those of you who have been affected by loud night noise/ anti-social behaviour on Lordship Lane might be interested in this thread on licensing hours on Lordship Lane - http://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/forum/read.php?5,505123,page=1. You think Fri/Sat nights are a pain, just wait till you get it on Thursday and Sunday nights too... Brendan
Well it looks like the whole dam suburb has gone to the bogs since I left. Hell in a handkerchief and up the swanny. candp
Does anyone know if a kebab shop could be made to get security as part of their licence? I was stood near Kebab & Wine (the kebab shop next to Black Cherry), chatting to a couple of friends a few Saturdays ago, minding our own business after a night out. Now admittedly this was around 3am. But whatever the time was, we did not deserve to have full cans of G&T (posh larger louts in SE22!) thrown at us, nor be on the receiving end of a barrage of unwarranted and really nasty and misogynistic name-calling. There were at least 20 drinkers stood on Lordship Lane outside the kebab shop and, although I don't know if they were buying their booze in the kebab shop or across the road at the Payless corner shop, they were clearly settling-in for a drink there instead of buying their burgers, having a quick fight or vomit and moving on. SeanMacGabhann
see many threads passim candp - not a nice thing to have happenBut not sure if you were NEAR a kebab shop what security you want as part of their license? No one (well....) deserves to have anything thrown at them but we all probably know there are times when it's more likely? The reason it happened is little to do with security or license and more to do with a prevailing cultureI hope that doesn't sound like I'm being unsympathetic - but a kebab shop is unlikely to generate enough dosh to pay for bouncers. More likely the place would get closed down Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/12740-bouncers-security-on-lordship-lane/page/2/#findComment-356328 Share on other sites

SeanMacGabhann
They charge you? They let me in for spanners.... ;-)Bht whatever they charge, any kind of licence enforcement is going to see it closed down, not made safer Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/12740-bouncers-security-on-lordship-lane/page/2/#findComment-356330 Share on other sites
candp
Keef and Sean, is this true? Well then Sean, perhaps you're right and I'd rather someone looked at Kebab & Wine's adherence to the law and licensing rules. But the drinkers were directly outside the shop and popping (well more sort of staggering) in and out of it, rather than just standing somewhere nearby. If they'd been drinking directly outside Black Cherry or Adventure and behaved as aggressively I think the bouncers would have moved them on. Saying that, I've not been there since my wallet got nicked a couple of years ago.> Bht whatever they charge, any kind of licence> enforcement is going to see it closed down, not> made saferI'm amazed it doesn't get raided every week as it is. DJKillaQueen
That kebab shop does have a bar and restaurant attached to it so will have some kind of bar licence. I'll go and look it up. candp
V interesting DJKQ, thanks. I think the cctv they're required to have would make interesting viewing for a licensing officer. Perhaps they've found some way round the rules with the drink tokens (clearly ancillary to any meal) but god knows where they found that invisible doorman. DJKillaQueen
No the drink tokens are neither here nor there. There should be NO alcohol sold or SUPPLIED on the premises after 1am and the alcohol that is supplied can only be done so with a meal consumed on the premises. No exceptions. So if they are not doing that then they are breaching the terms of their licence. If they are running the back room as a bar only they are also breaching the terms of their license. If the Police catch them doing that twice in a seven day period they can apply to a magistrate to force the premises to close. Southwark licensing would be very interested to hear of any breaches and can similarly review and withdraw the license at any point.
