Our daughter starts at Heber in a few weeks. Where's the best place to get the uniform?

Also, as we are new to having to buy a uniform, what exactly do you think she needs? A mixture of generic skirts/dresses along with a couple of specific sweatshirts branded with the logo from the school?

Blue sweatshirt, available from school. White polo shirt with school emblem, available from school. Don't have girls so don't know about dresses but they are blue and white checked summer dresses that a lot of the girls wear. Some girls also wear grey pinafore/sleeveless type dresses. Otherwise, grey skirt or trousers. Black shoes. There is also a school zip up jacket. Some kids wear them, but not all.

On quantity - how much do you want to wash! Depending on how messy you daughter is at meal times, then 2-3 sweatshirts. Remember Reception kids also play with a lot of messy play as well. How many polo shirts you get depend on whether your daughter will be wearing dresses and what type of dress.

The school office may be open a week or so before school starts. Try giving them a ring. I do know some of the office staff are not term time only. Otherwise, don't sweat. You can always get stuff in the first week.

Hope your daughter enjoys Heber.

(Edited to make sense!)

We have just sweatshirts - 5 and white polos just came from m&s. We also have plain tracksuit bottoms, fleece top and white tsahirt for pe in a named bag but iirc reception don't need that.

We have about 8 trousers and polos otherwise washing and ironing is a bit fiddly to keep up.. he has clean every day

No need for PE kit in Reception. But, for yr 1 onwards it is tracksuit trousers or shorts and plain white polo. We used to have plimsoles for indoor PE once a week (other session is outdoors) but my oldest just has a pair of trainers packed for both sessions now.

    • I totally agree it just seems that it a thing nowadays.  It must be due to how fireworks are sold.
    • Well worth a read   https://manchestermill.co.uk/the-men-who-raised-the-flags/
    • If it was limited to a couple of days a year, so we all knew, that would be fine. In the last few years (and it is a recent thing) you get random fireworks going off any time after dusk for half the year. It does more than cause problems for pets and wildlife- it can mean lasting damage and massive expense and hassle for pet owners. All because some get a buzz out of loud bangs.
    • Ohh dear.  Fireworks can be great fun.  Where I used to live the kids would have firework wars/games.  Watching them was more enjoyable than watching  TV. (Which you could hardly hear due to the pops and bangs).  It's not like anyone/anything could stop them. I would still prefer organised public displays that are affordable.   And I agree that fireworks cause problems for wild life, pets and people.   It seems to be one of those things that just happens so we have to put up with it.  But it is still not as problematic here as in other areas in London - that's for sure.
