Use whisky as medicine - it disinfects the upper throat and prevents colds and virus taking hold. Recommended dose - about two fingers + splash of cold water as a prophylatic measure, if condition more serious the addition of lemon, honey & hot water to cooking (ie non single malt) is recommended - it either cures the problem or ensures you don't care.

Of course this may count as alternative / complementary medicine and enrage Richard Dawkins and other rationalists (of which I usually count myself - but not on this issue)

"tastes like medicine"... honestly :)

actually a few of my friends have said that when I've tried to convince them of loveliness of Lagavulin - most disheartening !

I do remember some tasting notes mentioning boiled cabbage... never picked that up myself though (steer clear of cabbage in general :-))

a close family member does swear by a mini hot toddy in the morning to ward off any incoming colds - sounds like the strategy was based on fact after all...

    • How very dare you. Rest assured, if it were intended to be comedy, it would have been funny.
    • I hadn't looked at the actual posts on Instagram. That's sad, then. The shop opening hours are still shown at the top of the page. I  guess changing them wasn't uppermost in her mind under the circumstances.
    • I want to recommend the kitchen fitters Top Marx kitchens. They were excellent from the communication, the planning and the fitting. John did a fantastic job of of fitting and worked around and solved many of the issues we had with Ikea who we purchased from. John gave lots of helpful advice and support. We would definitely use them again for any kitchen work. I have added before and after photos.
