That's a very interesting article. Which reminds me of an email I got a few months ago saying, "did you know some guy is using a picture of you on his Guardian Soulmates profile?" It's true! How he hoped to explain it if he ever went on a date, I have no idea. Unless he did actually look exactly like me and just didn't have any pictures to hand.

The height thing is about managing expectations though. I went on one of those t'internet dates once with a man who said he was 5 11. Now I am barely 5 3 so have no scope for comments on men of less than god like stature but in heels I range from 5 4 to a rather resplendid 5 8.... well I turned up and was considerably taller than him and I felt a little embarrassed and swapped to my flats to try and be sensitive.

If someone used my photo on a dating site I think I would be remarkably flattered, puzzled, but flattered.

That was certainly not the intention.

Well from the age of around 17, upon realising that I was at my final height, but unwilling to accept my diiminutive stature, I learned to walk in heels. I have been practising ever since and now I think I am rather good at it. I rarely wear 5 inch heels these days admittedly.

    • But a larger number, in a more hotly contested election, didn't. It is an anomaly that Starmer won a landslide in seats with a turnout for Labour which would have shamed Labour leaders in all the 21st and much of the post war 20th century.
    • I was not suggesting anything else!   I'm not sure how you interpret what I said  as "irrelevant"? I was responding to a post saying that Corbyn was "unelectable". My point was that a  large number  of the electorate  voted for him!
    • that's exactly what happened - Brickhouse were forced to close due to rent hike and then Gail's didn't move in until covid restrictions lifted and normality resumed. Gail's would have opened much sooner as they were lined up and able to offer the landlord much higher rents. Brickhouse was a local favourite
    • The Brickhouse closed just before Covid December 2019. Nothing to do with Gails muscling in as they didn't move into till December 2022. Stop trying to fit a false narrative into a story
