Commie Cubs

My 9 year old has just come back from "camp" with the Wood Craft Folk ( commie cubs )

Today they went on a rally & he collected the following

^{A signed, personalised book from Dianne Abbot: Never on our knees. A history of the RMT}

^{A NASUWT The teachers union Frisbee}

^{RMT: railagainstprivatisation DVD}

^{N.U.T Aqua Px re-cycled water x 2}

^{RMT mini torch}

^{A black UNITE union T-shirt}

^{and much, much more...}

"We had a great day & we carried banners & all that stuff & I had my photo taken with her ( D.A ) " he excitedly told me..

Hmmm..Now I wonder if there an agenda going on here ( like have they been infiltrated by the "left" )

What's your thoughts & should I be worried

I always think I am quite liberal but my youngest attended this for a month or 2 when he was 10 and decided to leave as he could not "WIN" anything. I thought this was good for him but he hated it and said they were communists ( too much animal farm) and would not go back.

I think they generally preach to the converted- but if you discuss it and they enjoy it I am sure they will not turn into little communists. ;-)

Encourage the entrepeuneurial spirit in him and get him to set up a small business, flogging the 'goods' to make a profit to the unsuspecting masses.

Like a kind of personal challenge...and with some of those items, it almost certainly will be.

Failing that, be afraid, very afraid.

I'm not really worried..

In fact I like it that there are organisations like this

My boys absolutely love going & it is so laid back it's horizontal

Plus, I know they are very "left" & unashamedly so

In this day & age it's quite refreshing for an organisation to be so up front

Any religion I think. But probably preferably Christian! I do know if you refuse to follow a religion you can't join.

I was a "scout" for a brief period, and don't recall any religious pre-requisites!

Well given that we are a Christian country and Christian stories have traditionally been taught in our schools......

But no you don't have to declare any religious pursuasion for cubs or scouts or the more junior beavers.....most childen wouldn't know what that meant anyway.

The brownie guide oath was/is to serve the queen and to do your duty to god.

Mother tried to make me join at the age of 9 and I took great exception, mostly because you had to skip round a toadstool and the uniform in the 80s made you look like a giant poo wearing a bobble hat. I refused to swear the oath, never became a proper brownie and brought my family into disrepute in the village. Ma has never forgiven me.

Brownies and Guides just seemed to reinforce the stereotypes of how young women should behave as well.

Yeah I too lasted just one day at brownies after playing volleyball with balloons seemed just too stupid and a complete waste of time to me (even at that age). As soon as I was old enough I joined the Sea Cadets instead - and engaged in sailing, speed boats, morse code, firing air guns and climbing trees - now that what girls should be doing.

Anyway, it's quite simple; when you join the kids up with the W.C.F they ask if you've tried any other organised brainwashing group.

You say "Yes the cubs & it was crap"

They say "Ok you're in"

Simple really, by proxy you've denounced God & the backbone of a Capitolist society

Why wouldn't they welcome you with open arm
