People who have to propagate an image of being ?hard? tend to do so to cover up some feeling of inadequacy. Same as people who are c@nts in order to succeed in the political or business world do.

I could strip, reassemble and fire a handgun when I was 10 years old, I can kick a football straight, I can handle myself when necessary and I?m pretty well educated but I feel no need to use these things to somehow validate my manhood or value to society. Although admittedly I now seem to be indulging in a little macho posturing.

A person?s value is the value that those around them ascribe to them. Personally I?ve found that neither being ?hard? nor ?successful? influences this positively. They are just self indulgent states of being.

Oh and I deal with government on a daily basis and do not approve of the way it functions at all but believe me, people do not get to the top by being soft.

When Mic first went on TV he got lots of this sort of stick, he even said if you put yourself up there expect to be shot down. I personally think most of the comments are laughable but I see no one replied to this racist comment, because no matter how skilful the prose you can?t hide what you really are.

I didn't even notice the racist comment before and think it's out of order. I also think you lot all went on the defensive cos none of you can kick a ball straight.

When the oil runs out and climate change hits, there won't be the kind of civilisation you lot are propped up by now. If you can't build your own house, grow your own food or protect your land, you are gonna be in trouble.

Excuse me chaps - hold on to your hats. There was no racist comment and none intended. I think you must be very weird to see what was admittedly a personal pop, due to my sick sense of humour at someone I don't know, as racist. Since I have no idea of his ethnic/national background and never gave it a thought as I assumed he was a salt of the earth yeoman I think you need to retract this statement.

    • Agreed, he should not be held accountable over the mess up over release of prisoners. On the other hand he did himself no favours with his gaffes on the BBC Master Mind programme where he passed on five questions. Where he did answer, here are some of his responses.... When asked who succeeded Henry VIII, Lammy incorrectly answered “Henry VII,” When asked which French scientist won Nobel prizes for both physics and chemistry?” Lammy responded with “Antoinette” When asked which fortress was built to defend Paris and later used as a prison, he answered “Versailles". When asked which variety of blue English cheese is often taken with port, he answered "Leicester" If nothing else he was entertaining.
    • Why do you think he should be toast? All these problems with the prison service apparently go way back, long before Labour took over.
    • Probably by working as a banker for a decade before being an MP, being married to another high earner, and using some of the accommodation allowance that all out-of-town MPs receive. https://www.theipsa.org.uk/news/why-do-mps-need-an-accommodation-budget Tbh mate if someone in her position couldn't work out a mortgage to buy a house in suburban London, they probably shouldn't be Chancellor in the first place...
    • Just this, really.  I'll say one thing, it's never boring with Labour
