Just had a baffling phone conversation with hairdresser Myla and Davis in Northcross road - trying (and failing) to book a haircut for a 13-year old boy at the weekend.

They won't take a booking at a weekend with a child - even if the customer is happy to pay a full-price adult haircut for that child. I've never known a hairdresser actually turn a full-paying customer away on the basis of age.

They must be doing well if they can afford to be so strict on their no-kid policy at weekends. I'm genuinely puzzled.

I get the fact that hairdressers can't justify cheaper kids haircuts in peak time - but I've never had a hairdresser refuse to take an adult fee for a kid before. Their business, their rules, of course. Odd though.

Thank you for that tip re Porters. Funnily enough a friend just recommended Porters to me - her teenage son goes there and lots of his school friends too. Wasn't on my radar. A walk-in hairdresser sounds ideal. Thanks.

    • I've just checked my NHS record online.  Gruelling process, but eventually found last week's immunisation records under Acute (short-term) medicines, after having looked at my Immunisations section and been told that the information was not there but was available from my GP's record.  Anyway, my Covid vaccination at Day Lewis TJHC pharmacy last week was a Pfizer one. Krystal give me a little card with the vaccination details on it, and don't require any preliminary form-filling either.  DL provided no record.
    • I read that years ago, but I can't remember anything about it (but then I forget books as soon as I've finished them).
    • Poor cat. Also poor people. I imagine it was incredibly frightening for everyone involved, quite apart from any damage to their homes. And so soon after the massive  fire in Penge. I hope the cat is found and everyone affected in any way by the fire will get all the help they need.
    • Yes, I'm hoping for Pfizer, which I think I'm ok with. But to be on the safe side I've made an appointment for when I haven't got anything else planned  for a week afterwards. Last time I had to stand up for most of an evening and put on a happy face while feeling really grim (was in bed for the rest of the week).
