When I say 'saw' I mean I came out of the main entrance to a huge hub-bub and lots of nurses around a car with porters covering all the windows in towels. Poor, poor lady. You could hear her screams. I was in tears (I blame the pregnancy hormones. That or the fact that I'd had my glucose tolerance test and hadn't eaten for 14 hours!)

It all happened rather swiftly and by the time I'd finished my phone call (I turned my back to the whole drama so I felt like at least I was giving her a litle privacy!) mum and baby were on a trolley being wheeled in to a huge round of applause from the crowd. Can you imagine?

Gosh - wonder if she's one of our Autumn ladies?!

I hope I make it a bit further into the hospital :-/

Hmm, isn't unusual - had to run out to a couple of cars before with babies being/having been delivered outside A&E!!

A v good friend had her baby in the carpark at Kings, but it was about 10pm in the evening so not as much of a crowd.

Am sure having had your GTT beforehand hadn't helped your emotions Kerry - hope the result was ok x

A mate of mine gave birth in McDonald's carpark on the North Circular - pure class. The poor girl was on her way to hospital but they were stuck in a hideous traffic jam so that was the first place they could turn off and park up. Shockingly the McDonald's staff were all aware of what was going on but no one so much as offered her a coffee afterwards!

my friend was having a nice home birth last winter and suddenly nobody could hear the baby's pulse, so she was rushed to hospital. It took a bit longer than usual because of the snow - and she gave birth in a lift at kings!

put me off having a home birth forever...

    • Hi  I really thought I'd seen a more recent post on the forum about home education meet ups. I can't find it though. Hope some of these might provide leads. https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/137603-home-schooling-advice-anyone-wants-to-do-it-together/#comment-1092093 Very old post but group seems still to exist: https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/92044-home-education-local-group/#comment-954837 You could try contacting this forum member: https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/325368-classroom-support-for-home-education-community/#comment-1621064 Two of these left for right now: https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/events/event/1025-🌟-teens-11-try-painting-sculpture-street-art-at-holiday-workshops/
    • Thanks for your reply. I’ve subscribed to Ancestry a few times in the past but felt I wasn’t using it enough to warrant keeping up the subscription.
    • Hi, I saw your post and just wanted to say that the incident you’re referring to did happen in the late 1980s at Dawson’s Heights. The person involved was named Carl Salawa, and he had just turned 18 years old at the time. Like you, I haven’t been able to find any news articles or official reports about it, If anyone remembers anything more about that time or incident, I’d really appreciate hearing about it. Thanks for sharing what you were told—it means a lot to know others remember.
    • Was anyone else disturbed last night/early hours this morning by the party going on in someone’s garden on Crystal Palace road. Can’t see what house exactly but it’s around number 43 - 41… it was happening quite frequently last year. Seems it’s starting again! Very inconsiderate.
