gwod
I agree, this is sad. However - it's not been open that much recently so perhaps James is pleased to see it go - hard to imagine the replacement having the same homely feel (or the same magical homemade banana loaf!) None-the-less, I wish the newcomers success. Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/13226-james-is-selling-jacks/#findComment-360148 Share on other sites
Fuschia
It's always been by far the best place to take children - toys and nice pasta with meatballs and icecream in dishes or cones.Looks like it will turn into another ED clone. Sad :-( Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/13226-james-is-selling-jacks/#findComment-360150 Share on other sites
m&m fairy
FuschiaI am a close friend of the people who have bought Jacks and i am a bit dissapointed to see that you have started your own thread on this. The people who have bought Jacks are incredibly passionate about food and have lived in the area for some time. They know about Jacks and will be continuing good home made food and a friendly atmosphere, welcoming everyone from the community and continuing the childrens menu! It is a little sad that you have written it off already, it certainly won't be an East Dulwich clone and hence why James sold it to Di and Alex as he approached them!! Di worked in michelin star restaurants through the nineties and Alex is a local artist. Please support your local businesses :O) Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/13226-james-is-selling-jacks/#findComment-360156 Share on other sites
candj
m&m fairy, I don't think Fuschia meant anything other than she was sad to see James leave (as I am) and that we all HOPE what we love about Jack's (child friendly, good food, good local location for us) will stay the same. Best of luck to your friends on their new business. When will it be open and will it be closed during school half term holidays? charliebrown
Hi CandjWe are yet to set an opening date but as soon as we know we will put it on the blog and update the forum (crossing fingers for end of September) Good news is we will be opening both half term and full term holidays with the exception of a few days over xmas but everyone will be full up from all the mince pies and turkey anyway!! >:D<Alex Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/13226-james-is-selling-jacks/#findComment-360174 Share on other sites
Fuschia
So is it closed now? I went along on Thursday with twins in tow and it was shut sob sob, cue a disastrous afternoon that ended up with my virtually in tears at a bus stop by GG with both twins screaming in the rain and I was sure I was going to faint, had to be rescued by Mr F (I'm 7m pregnant) (Not that that this sad story is Jacks fault, of course, but finding my safe haven unexpectedly shut did throw me rather)The sign said it would be open tomorrow but I don't want to risk it again if that's not true... I feel a little reassured now. Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/13226-james-is-selling-jacks/#findComment-360176 Share on other sites
