can anyone recommend where to take a 2-year-old swimming tomorrow (Sat), somewhere up to half hr drive from ED? I am thinking 'fun swimming', something like Latchemere centre in battersea, with a shallow end and slides etc.

Ive just looked at 2 websites: the beckenham spa and crystal palace sports centre but they are very confusing, and I cant find what I want.

many thanks!!!

Parking was a bit awkward when we used to go...

The pool itself is very nice. But when I went, I was very annoyed when they closed the pool for half an hour and kicked everyone out, only 20 minutes after we'd got in. No one mentioned this when we were paying, and there seemed no explanation either. I'm assuming health and safety reasons :X

Apparently they did the same thing at Peckham Pulse yesterday when my husband took my son. Does anyone know why they have to close the pool in the middle of the day? I never remember this happening before.

You could try Battersea Latchmere, but it does get very busy, and you have to take a padlock for the locker, or buy one at reception.

Can't wait for Dulwich pool to open next week!

They run sessions at Wavelengths and clear the pool for 20 mins inbetween each one. They should tell you when you go in if there's not much time left before the end of the session but obviously don't. The session times seem to change from timem to time and certainly different in the holidays from normal weekends so best to call before you go and check!

    • Where did I suggest that those in Southwark should pay more? I gave what seemed to be a likely reason why Lambeth is able to spend more than Southwark on street cleaning, if that is in fact the case. Local elections are coming up soon. I'm sure this  would be an excellent opportunity for you to ask the existing councillors - and other people who are standing for election - what their priorities would be if elected!
    • I'm sure they have good reasons, yet safety for the residents who pay the CT should be a priority. £63 million on Other Services?
    • Southwark Council have a £70m budget shortfall over the next three years, largely driven by the raising cost of adult social care, children’s social care and homelessness. I am sure they’d like to prioritise street cleaning more, but this isn’t realistic. If you’re interested in a breakdown of how they spend their money, the headlines are here:  https://www.southwark.gov.uk/council-tax/how-we-manage-council-tax/our-budget-and-how-we-spend-council-tax/our-income-and I’m sure there are areas where the council could make better decisions or be more efficient, but they’re working in a very challenging financial context.
    • Would you not expect clean streets to be a priority? Rather than suggesting those in Southwark pay more, would it not be more relevant that Southwark actually prioritise it and explain what they are spending our money on.
