I don't think much of the girly joky Katy Perry thing either. It just means 'I'm girly joky Katy Perry and I'm completely self centered and I think I'm better than you'.


People will probably think I'm being bossy. But really that means 'I'm completely self-centered and I'm going to try and deflect attention by criticizing you'.


Either like and respect people or don't. But if you don't be prepared to ask yourself a really difficult question, do people like or respect you?

Personally, I am disappointed that this thread was started (without proper planning and due consideration for the time of others reading it) and seemingly exists purely for third-party justification of tardiness and an elusive 'get out of jail' card.


'Honestly', lets all 'try harder' in future and throw our money in the 'Free Parking', eh?

I too am with CC and ????...was that not evident from my post?


And I was actually being sincere when I said that I would try harder...clearly that didn't come across either. And I do respect and value all of my friends, though I agree that being continually late would, prima facie, appear to be a contradiction. Nor do I think I am more important than them - not at all.


My post was meant to be a heartfelt one of shame and regret and of wishing to do better in the future...but I have clearly failed there.

It wasn't personal pookie, it was general.


But really, if you are habitually late for your friends then quite simply you do not respect and value them. You don't.


If you're late for everyone then you don't respect and value anyone.


I'm not talking about time in a clock way, I'm talking about it in a keeping people waiting way.

Oooooh katie1997, you're absolutely right, I should have realized that under your ditzy but yet patronizing disregard for other people's time there was a very serious girly concern for how you would be perceived.

I do understand your point(s) Huguenot and (to a degree) you are right. However, as alluded to above, my post was merely conveying a genuine realisation that my habitual tardiness was in fact a serious matter (as opposed to a laughing one). And the statement that I would try harder was heartfelt. Unless I am clearly messing about, I rarely say what I do not mean.


I regret having posted though. But perhaps I shouldn't because, whilst I had taken CC's and Quid's comments on board, yours have rammed them home to such an extent that I don't think I shall (without reasonable excuse) ever be late again.


I should just add that, when any of my friends are late, I don't get upset about it - I just get out the knitting. Usually no harm is done.

Well katie1997, you can choose your level of engagement, but I strongly recommend doing it in front of the mirror with the thumb of your left hand in your mouth and the index finger of your right hand curling your hair as you ponder how pretty you are.

Lessons must be taught and learned.


A certain forumite friend was late for a little BG meet-up last weekend, yes, 45 minutes late apparently but i wont name and shame that person, she knows who she is. Good job i was late too, to counter her tardiness.:))

      Yes, the appointments were scheduled for every ten minutes. And there is no waiting area at all this time  (sometimes for medical checks there they have a very small area inside with 3 or 4 seats). If you have come by public transport, you have to sit on the steps up to the van if you are early,  which isn't pleasant in very hot sun or pouring rain, or else wander round Asda (there's no cafe in Asda, despite it supposedly being a superstore). It's one in, one out. I don't know what happens if you are late, but I doubt they would hold up everybody who came after you in order to fit you in.  There was someone immediately before me and someone immediately after me. That's what I did in the end , so thank you for that.  I gritted my teeth and got some exercise. It wasn't as bad as I expected 😀 I did get a 37 from Nigel Road back to Goose Green on the return journey, though!

      NHS subcontractors frequently use supermarket parking areas for CT and other screening. Easy to get to and park. They've done the same at Dog Kennel Hill in the past. Makes a lot of sense. And they ram in lots of timed appointments, so time critical is precisely right.
