John the Unicorn

We had our works Christmas dinner upstairs at John the Unicorn last night, and it was so good that I feel compelled to give them a big endorsement to encourage more people to eat there. They certainly deserve to be busier than they were last night.

The food was just delicious - a mixture of small and large plates to share or otherwise; the service was flawless; the upstairs dining room has got a really nice vibe; and it really wasn't very expensive for the quality.

Thank you Jon, Alex and your talented chefs. I'm determined to bring everyone I know back here to enjoy your great food and service.

Hi. It's a pub down Rye Lane with a dining room upstairs. If you're heading from East Dulwich towards Peckham Rye station, it's on the right hand side. Highlights were the lamb croquettes, beetroot arancini, and pork belly with braised pork cheeks. Oh, and the warm lemon meringue pie. Yum!

Not been there since the previous chef left - but the food has always been excellent.

Not convinced they've got the ambience/d?cor/furniture quite right in the dining room though..

Oh, I thought they had stopped doing food upstairs!

Had a delicious meal there before the previous chef left.

Will have to try again. Agree it is a bit of a weird space though.

That's what I was told. Perhaps they are just doing Works dos during the Christmas period. ??
