The last Dulwich Runners I went to was a 5k but in the summer?

There is parkrun in all the parks round here - 5k every Saturday morning, and these guys run a lot of timed 10k races etc. round here - Brockwell, Clapham, Greenwich Battersea etc. Good value and a decent medal.

The Runners World race finder is also really useful:

Their autumn 10k has bitten the dust I fear. A couple of years ago I spoke to the lovely guy who helped organise it and he said one of the issues was it was just getting too busy and congested on the pavements used for the route through Dulwich village to have lots of runners going through at top speed. The race fell off the calendar the year when Dulwich Park was being dug up for flood work and hasn't reappeared.

The Dulwich Runners midsummer 5k seemed to morph into a relay event last summer (2016). Maybe they feel the 5k market is more than being met with the numerous local parkruns?

The race director at Peckham parkrun is a Dulwich Runner so he could no doubt tell you more if you come along one Saturday.

    • @NewWave I know how you feel. Like you, I've lived and spent prolonged periods of time in some pretty crazy places and always thought I could handle a bunch of kids. But, no - they got to me and I was shaking like a leaf afterwards. That's what age does to us.  But I did engage with them, so bear that in mind.  My advice would be to never let anything like that stop you doing the things you love. I'm certainly not going to stop using the park, there's no way they get to take away our cherished spaces!  If you see them, just change tack and keep out of their way. My dog won't even go that way again, so that's that problem solved. (If I see them again, I'm going to keep taking photos from a safe distance).
    • Truly horrific. Being passive or fighting back is what many of us think about by violent theft.
    • What ridiculous waste of money
    • Lots of good primary schools within reach of there. Fairlawn, Goodrich, Ivydale and Horiman. Secondary schools you will definitely get into the Harris Academies or Sydenham Girls or Forest Hill Boys, you might just be on the boundary for the East Dulwich or North Dulwich Charter but it changes every year.
