Cat flaps??

Hi! I am about to get a cat flap and I am unsure what to get. I have heard that in our area a lot of cats are brave and will come through into houses they don't belong to. Does anyone have any input? Should I get one of those infrared ones? Do they break a lot. If anyone has any experience with this any help would be greatly appreciated!

We've got one of these: http://www.petporte.com/ It works using the cat's chip so there's no problem of the collar getting lost. Works well for us - and seems to stop inquisitive interlopers... Rob

Us too - It was expensive but it's easy to use and has completely stopped unwanted interlopers. I think it makes my namby pamby cats more confident too as they seem to know they've got a really safe place to go if the territorial battles in the garden get too much for them.

One of my cats reminds me of yours.

When our other cat is outside protecting his territory from a wandering neighbour cat, he flies thru the cat flap, at 100mph, and hides under the kitchen

table, hyperventillating...

We've got a microchip reading cat flap - well worth the money, I'm sure we were feeding all the neighbourhood cats at one stage before we got it! We've had it for a couple of years and never had any problems with it.
