Ice warning for cyclists

I've now heard about and witnessed another nasty bike crash as you come over the pedestrian/cyclist crossing approaching Peckham platform.

The tiled area is lethal so take care. I saw a fell come off this morning, stopped to help him and fell off myself. I will personally be pushing my bike across that section until everywhere thaws out.

Hope you weren't hurt! On a related note, can people please stop washing their cars on the street in the current weather conditions? In shaded areas the resultant ice can stay for days and can be really hard to pick up.

As there is for not washing on their forecourt with the water running over the pavement and freezing into a nice hazardous slick .

I'm all for a nice protective patina of grime on one's car .

Do you mean the forecourt of Peckham Rye station?

No (sorry to answer for you Anna) the Peckham platform is the plaza outside Peckham library (where cycling is permitted, despite the dirty looks from some people!).

My daughter fell off her bike yesterday on the way to school, thankfully a lollipop lad was nearby to help and she wasn't hurt badly - but yes its treacherous for cyclists at the moment.

Yeah - my wife fell off yesterday - a few bruises and helped by a kind PRP dog walker

When I cycled I found the Court Lane Eynella Rd raised junction very slippery in frosty weather .

Might have been just me ,but be careful if you're nipping through the park .

Thank you, I didn't realised it was called that. I cycle across that twice a day - will be very careful there.

Actually it's called Peckham Square (I now realise), Peckham Platform is the arts venue to its right hand side but all the same vicinity - yes do watch out there, and on the Surrey Canal path too - hit a bunch of leaves that had frozen overnight there last week, made for an interesting detour over the grass!

I cycled across it this morning, but took extra care on my whole route. Doesn't stop black ice being an issue though.
