Actually he's not Jimmy Carter - he's very experiences at how to work in the American system having done it for 40 years. He might be too old for a second term - but never say never.

Med's post was aimed at me and said in jest, no offence was meant and none taken...

Thanks for the explanation. Relieved to see the players are not actually counting every post themselves 🙂

I saw CNN's joint interview with Biden & Harris. I think I can best describe it as refreshing. It's likely they won't achieve everything they want to, what politicians do? I guess what was so refreshing was that it felt like they were being honest. Something that has been seriously missing in US and UK politics for some time.It was like taking a gulp of fresh air having just left somewhere stinky.

I watched Trump?s ?Victory Rally? in the early hours.

What a depressing experience.

Why are the Republicans not denouncing this ?!

America seems lost of their leader can voted out, refuse to leave, deny the election outcome, spread unrest amongst his supporters, disable the democratic process and self-enrich at will, repeatedly (let alone self-pardon !).

It's so depressing. Trump is gonna trump, but where are the decent Republicans? They can't all be as deranged / morally vacuous as the Donald?!

Yes, I think the republicans are so scared to do anything it speaks volumes for the culture of their party currently.

However, there is a few outspoken republicans though I'm not sure they have a forum.

One thing I've seen is The Lincoln Project (republicans) adverts/clips denouncing Trump and his actions, Kushner, Ivanka, and other filthy players in this sick game.

Wiki:"

The Lincoln Project

Named after Abraham Lincoln

Founded December 17, 2019

The Lincoln Project is an American political action committee formed in late 2019 by a number of Republicans and former Republicans. During the 2020 presidential election, it aimed to prevent the re-election of Donald Trump and defeat all Republicans in close races running for re-election in the United States Senate.[2][3][4] In April 2020, the committee announced its endorsement of Democratic presidential nominee Joe Biden,[5] who went on to win the election."

Looks like the Senate is going to the Democrats - still in the balance but one Georgia seat has been called (by NBC and CNN) and the other is waiting on more Democrat areas to come in with a small Democratic lead.

Winning both seats gives Biden the Senate (with the VP vote) and thus a majority in both houses.

After winning these two seats (if that even happens), it?ll be a 50/50 House from what I understand with VP Harris having deciding-vote power.

Unfortunately, due to the majorities required (and, you?d have to suspect after Republican behaviours this last few months) it will be exceeding difficult to push change through. So the Biden administration may be hugely crippled in its ability to achieve as much as it intends.

For example, the ?Dirty Dozen? digging their heels in.

Complete disaster for the US 😭

    • We have had Tony and team do a number of repairs and decorative work over the past year in our Victorian terrace in Peckham. Most recently, they painted the majority of our house while we were on holiday, where they spent 12 hour days over two weeks working non stop to complete plastering, walls & ceilings, and woodwork paint on custom joinery. Tony communicated throughout but kept the end result a surprise. We returned to the most beautiful house decor, with the whole place spotless too. I would have no hesitation in recommending TDR, the work is always to an extremely high standard, well priced and I always trust Tony and his work. We will use TDR again for further work in our house.
    • It's quite normal with chain shops that have a large real estate portfolio who are in the proverbial. When the writing is on the wall they know exactly how much they can afford to pay to keep a site open and the landlord then has a choice:  accept the lower rent or find a new tenant. Finding a new tenant sometimes means not getting any rent from an insolvent company, paying to clear their stuff out and giving the new tenant a rent free period to fit out their shop and establish themselves. It can be expensive for the landlord to refuse a rent reduction. I think this landlord has probably landed on their feet here though, getting Tesco interested.
    • When I used to go to the one in Woodwarde road I found them expensive but not exceptional- They kept suggesting I have an acid treatment on my toenails which have a tendancy to become ingrown-I think it was many hundreds of pounds (about £400 5 or so years ago) when I found my current Podiatrist (who teaches at The Royal college of Podiatrists) he told me that A: that treatment was'nt foolproof and the nail could grow back and B: that he really did'nt reccomend it in my case. I also did'nt like how the charges at Woodwarde rd just kept getting higher and varied depending on whom was treating me.
