Pretty hard to ignore when you've been banging on about it for 4 years.

War, terrorism, famine, pestilence. Got it.

I'll give you pestilence, but nothing to do with brexit unfort.

Anyway....this can continue on the brexit thread. We've hijacked the Trump thread enough.

"War, terrorism, famine, pestilence. Got it. "

Your words, not mine. Although terrorism because of renewed conflict in NI would be foolish to rule out

Making everything a bit more shit (trade, cost, haulage, relations with EU) but not leading to anything catastrophic is not The Big Win you think it is. It just means everyone has had to deal with more shit

And it isn't something that people voted for, no matter what you say

Thank you. How ridiculous

"Pretty hard to ignore when you've been banging on about it for 4 years. "

I have been banging on about it for 4 years - let's review what's happened

Trump won - lots of people said he was a fascist and were shouted down. Britain fell over itself to give him a state visit for a hoped-for trade deal that never happened. Trump continued to fash. Loads of brexiteers and this government(s) continued to say what a swell guy he was. And look where that ended up

Speaking of our governments - we've had 3 in the 4 years since then. 2 general elections. 3 leaders. soon to be 4. Doesnt seem like anyone wants the credit for this amazing feat of Brexit to me. Sounds like a shitshow in a f***factory to me

Global pandemic - all governments struggled to cope. Guess who struggled more than most and learnt nothing since it struck. In fact which government tried to deny it and wanted to ignore it at the beginning. Tick

Which amazing new future had to be postponed twice with extensions because the ramifications of not were too serious to contemplate. Yep, Brexit again. The gift that keeps giving

But now it's here!! at last. Yay. And instead of pointing to any great outcome we have people going "there isn't war famine or death" as some kind of gotcha. Whilst simultaneously ignoring or poo-poohing all the major businesses and haulage and trade experts pointing out the problems since Jan 1

But its' much easier to lock horns with me on a bulletin board than deal with reality isn't it?

Forgot to add - mirroring fascist Trump, the UK govt proroguing parliament, treating to break international law AFTER signing an agreement and now preventing scrutiny of the deal

These are all the actions of a totally sane government in no way trying to cover up the problems to come

The idea that my Y-fronts would need to appear on a customs declaration because Northern Ireland is continuing to enforce EU customs rules at its ports.

Has the EU really not got anything better to do?

I do sometimes wonder if Trump has sold out to the Russians and/or the Chinese, he has hundreds of millions in debt and both of those places could afford to throw money at him if he promised to throw a spanner in the works of government in the USA, if he promised to cause instability, if he committed to creating civil and Governmental unrest.

I?m not a conspiracy theorist, but with Trump I genuinely don?t believe there is any limits to what he will do if there is the slightest chance that he can benefit.

The problem with Trump is that we are all proceeding on the basis that a president should look after his country and its people ? arguably a naive and institutionalised viewpoint when facing someone whose self-interest knows no bounds and whose respect for other people and institutions is less than zero. In fact it seems to be the basis for the way he operates, making the wildest decisions in the most negative way far in excess of anything seen before.

It?s like he relies on the norms to inform him of which abuses are possible.

Oh dear - after Parler lost it's associates including those that were part of authenticated it's users, it's entire database has been exposed including deleted posts.

At the same time a huge No Fly list has been created by the FBI of anybody who attended the Capitol sedition.

Wow !!

I guess the protesters will claim "someone took my phone, but I found it once they returned to my hometown from the Capitol with it...".

Is a no fly list like a ban for individuals which is shared with the airport/aviation authorities ?

I don't know if the no fly list is real but a lot of videos going around showing people being removed from planes or arrested at airports - but might be for other reasons.

The Parler list is real and huge is sure to end up with the authorities though.

thing is, its' great tracing all the rioters, but unless they get heavy sentences it's just a pretence. From what I've seen they've re being charged with trespass and other related things, as opposed to sedition (10yrs max), or conspiracy (20yrs max). These last two should be the charges, with max sentences for all - after all what's worst example of being unauthorised on Govt property ? Breaking into the Capitol, surely.
Some will get more serious charges than others I would think. Just walking in through an open door is not the same as smashing it down. Only those at the front smashed it down, if you get my drift. The guy who took the speakers podium however, did then go and list it on Ebay. So I guess he can be charged with theft as well lol.

    • Real shame they went under. We have a rectangular table (that we are keeping) which is great. I would set some ebay search alerts if you haven't done so already.

    • If this is approved BT will probably apply to remove the phone box. These cost far more than they earn and are very vulnerable to vandelism. The old phone boxes are not ideal to become WiFi hubs, and will need the same level of engineering work to convert (they will be connected over copper). And they don't offer the advertising opportunity which pays for the free WiFi.
    • They're big and ugly electronic advertising boards. There's a shagged out phone box across the road that could do the same thing!
