Mick Mac
Bored.Actually I am quite enjoying it and have even ventured out a couple of times for an orange and lemonade or two. Feel very relaxed about it this year which is good. wee quinnie
steveo Wrote:-------------------------------------------------------> That's wrongThis is something you hear very very often when you tell people you've given up drinking. Saying "I don't want a drink", seems to have become something of a no no. It's a bit disconcerting. It's like you've become a very awkward/fussy guest. katie1997
Day 9 for me. Loving it so far.Only last week as I sat in the Black Cherry with my lime and soda, watching my friends quaffing back their alcoholic drinks and laughingly agreeing to take part in a TV commercial, did I think "I'm glad I'm sober" as they took turns at rubbing body oil on a handsome, toned, muscular guy wearing nothing but a pair of boxing gloves and tiny shorts. kelliem
Interesting....my boyfriend always does his non-drinking month in January, as an after Christmas detox! I'm tempted to start a pre-Christmas detox this year myself. Any tips? Do you just cut out drinking or also eat differently? Mick Mac
Was eating more healthily for the first couple of weeks just for general health reasons. Cut down on coffee too. Also a few trips to the gym. But these are not the reasons for doing it, its really just to give my body a complete rest from alcohol. Like to test myself once a year. I have tried January in the past but found it harder than November. And the weather in jan is too depressing and work is busy too! Good luck. Jah Lush
My dad used to give up for lent every year. Not for any religious reasons. He wasn't a catholic and he was also an atheist - but just to prove to himself that he could do it. You've not missed much really, maybe tips on how to cook steak, a bit of religious history and why quids hates the East, that sort of thing. Not long to go now (and even less for Mick Mac I guess....)
