Katie, you must have been using a blackberry ;-). I'm in aswell for Vember, Friday night will be a good test, we'll stick close to Damian as he's a non drinker and doesnt mind hanging out in a pub ( with or without kids). And for the record Damian likes kids, mine and all our mates kids.

This is something you hear very very often when you tell people you've given up drinking. Saying "I don't want a drink", seems to have become something of a no no. It's a bit disconcerting. It's like you've become a very awkward/fussy guest.

Day 9 for me. Loving it so far.

Only last week as I sat in the Black Cherry with my lime and soda, watching my friends quaffing back their alcoholic drinks and laughingly agreeing to take part in a TV commercial, did I think "I'm glad I'm sober" as they took turns at rubbing body oil on a handsome, toned, muscular guy wearing nothing but a pair of boxing gloves and tiny shorts.

Yeah, they were so bloody well oiled at our last Goose singaround, they totally ruined it for everybody and we have had to move to the Mag.

Was eating more healthily for the first couple of weeks just for general health reasons. Cut down on coffee too. Also a few trips to the gym.

But these are not the reasons for doing it, its really just to give my body a complete rest from alcohol. Like to test myself once a year.

I have tried January in the past but found it harder than November. And the weather in jan is too depressing and work is busy too!

Good luck.

You're doing really well maxxi, I hope you don't get too used to your non-edf existence and remember to come back to us. You've not missed much really, maybe tips on how to cook steak, a bit of religious history and why quids hates the East, that sort of thing.

Not long to go now (and even less for Mick Mac I guess....)

    • Pretty sure it’s the same everywhere in Southwark in that the area around a marked cycle parking bay is geofenced - presumably to encourage riders to use the bays.
    • They are very funny at the Herne Hill Oxfam, for a charity book shop, about accepting book donations. Last time I tried to drop off a few bags the woman there was quite cross so I took them right back out, and I will not go back again. Definitely had this very same conversation on this forum before, including about the parking. That time I drove them over to a different charity bookshop in Streatham where - shock horror - they thanked me. And since then I've taken other books in smaller quantities to local charity shops.
