I was a customer of Virgin about 5 years ago, and regularly still receive post from them, but I can't stop them. The post isn't actually addressed to me, it's to "The Occupier", Flat B,.....

I have tried ringing them/emailing to stop them on a number of occasions, have tried returning to sending, but all to no avail.

I have just had a quick squizz on the mail order prefs website, but they cannot intervene because they cannot deal with post sent to "The Occupier", or if you have been a customer of the company in the past.

I know on a world scale that this is quite trivial, but it does p!ss me off - any suggestions as to how to stop it? Would it work if I forwarded it to Richard Branson's home address for instance?

These letters are sent to everyone in a Virgin Media catchment area.

I get them and have never been a customer.

Any similar mail. with no address on it.

I there is a return envelope, Send it back to them Empty. (Check there are none of your details.)

They will have to pay the postage.

If everone did this it would cost them dearly.

I've been tempted to send these back, unopened, saying "not known at this address" (even when it says occupier on it!). And I'm sorely tempted to gather up all the mail that Foxtons send me over the next couple of months and either do the same, or take it in personally (or let Mr Twirly do it when he's in a particularly bad mood).

This "loophole" in the mail preference service drives me nuts! We should be able to register the address, not just our names for it.

Can't remember details but wasn't there a post a while ago about the idea of sending all such unwanted mail to the BNP who had a Freepost postal address which was very similar to one that everyone knew about and loved.

Hmmm my memory's not what - what was I saying?

I should try this

I've never been a customer of theirs, but I reckon I've had more than 25 letters a year (for several years) from these clowns and I'm heartily sick of it

I'm on every 'don't send me anything list going (MPS, the Royal Mail opt out) but they just keep on coming

There is never a return envelope included

    • There was another unprovoked attack on Monday this week on a young woman nearby (Anstey Road) at 6.45pm. Don't have any other details, it was posted on a Facebook group by her flatmate. Pretty worrying  https://www.facebook.com/share/p/1EGfDrCAST/
    • OMFG is it possible for the council to do anything without a bunch of armchair experts moaning about it? The library refurb is great news, as it's lovely but completely shagged out - the toilets don't even work reliably. Other libraries in the area will be open longer house during the closure. July is a rubbish time to begin a refurb because it's just before the entire construction sector goes on summer holiday, and it would mean delaying the work another 8 months.

Worth contacting her with views on ammendments to the original license. I am fairly sure she won't grant any amendments, but just in case.....
    • Second time Aria has completed a plumbing job for me and both times he’s been polite. Communicative, kept to time and completed the job. He’s very helpful and tidy as well. First job was ball valve in water tank, not easy at all. He and his team were fantastic. This time kitchen tap cylinders replaced and tap tightened.  Much appreciated, Aria thank you.
