I have also had a wall underpinned (I prefer reinforced) as part of a kitchen extension because the original foundation wouldn't have been able to support the structural changes we were making. As I recall when I renewed my insurance the question mentioned underpinning in relation to subsidence rather than just underpinning. I would think that a large proportion of extensions would require some reinforcement to existing walls, especially Victorian houses, so I doubt it would affect your insurance.

Maybe the tax man would also be interested to hear about this guy? I'm assuming he asks to be paid in cash...

As people have already said it depends on whether the price you are paying is for a 3 bed or a 2 bed house. If they are selling it as a converted loft then clearly you need all the necessary approvals and permissions. If it's being sold as a 2 bed with potential then it's just storage and wouldn't have any building regs anymore than a boarded out loft space would have. Saying that if they are prepared to lower the price then that's a good thing!

But you didn't bother checking it was just the tap before you called out Steve and then slagged him off on a public forum when it turns out to be something simple you Cnut!

So you agreed a price, he came and did what you asked him to do and you are complaining? If it was such a small job why didn't you just go round there and turn on the tap?

So in January you said you won't be going back, then went back. They made some mistakes and offered you a free meal but even that isn't good enough for you so again you say you won't be going back. What exactly do they have to do to satisfy you?
