Moflo
Not wanting to make this into a cookery forum but does anyone know where to get Knorr Oxtail soup cubes? used to be able to get them but haven't seen them for many years! This relates to a yummy recipe for a PIE!! Recipe doesn't work without this ingredient! pablogrande
Couldn't you just use oxtail soup and reduce it down? Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/14386-oxtail-soup/#findComment-384313 Share on other sites

pablogrande
as oxtail is beef I imagine the oxtail stock maybe beef with tomato flavouring? The other thing is how long ago did you last have the pie? could be the changing of your tastebuds over time Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/14386-oxtail-soup/#findComment-384465 Share on other sites

Huguenot
I was intrigued by this as I don't remember it, but I used to be a fan of these things.Apparently Unilever do make a dehydrated Oxtail Soup in the 1-2-3 range. However, it's not a cube, it's a packet of loose granules. It comes in both home and industrial(2kg) sizes.Despite this none of the major supermarkets stock it. Sainsbury's, Tesco's, Asda and Waitrose all came up a blank.I'd probably focus my hunt on the large floor space 'value' chains like Lidl or Aldi. You can buy the 2kg buckets from wholesalers online. HAL9000
Could this have anything to do with the prohibitions imposed during the Mad Cow Disease era - the tail is an extension of the spinal column?
