john clarke
This incident has been reported to the police, but we're looking for any witnesses who saw the incident this morning, 9.25am at the 78 bus stop at the junction of East Dulwich Road/Peckham Rye. A white male 50+ got out of his dark Honda Civic (registration noted) and attacked a male at the bus stop, who stepped into the road causing the 78 to stop suddenly. There were people on the bus and a couple at the bus stop who may be of assistance. Don't wish to worry the forum over this, and no major injuries but PM if you saw thanks. evelyne
I understand for a fee you can find out the owner of a vehicle from the dvla and a form must be submitted. You can then take the necessary action to avoid such future altercations. Simonet
As the registration has been noted and The Police have been informed then they can trace the Owner of said vehicle. Kingy
gray area - ownership of a vehicle - you can trace the registered keeper of a vehicle, finding the actual 'owner' is another matter entirely Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/14427-witness-request-assault-honda-civic-925-am-peck-rye-common/#findComment-390681 Share on other sites
Narnia
How so? Is not the registered keeper the owner in law? Kingy
unfortunately not - owner and keeper are not the same thing Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/14427-witness-request-assault-honda-civic-925-am-peck-rye-common/#findComment-390707 Share on other sites
Narnia
How is the 'owner' different from the keeper? Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/14427-witness-request-assault-honda-civic-925-am-peck-rye-common/#findComment-390714 Share on other sites
DulwichFox
Narnia Wrote:-------------------------------------------------------> How is the 'owner' different from the keeper?Who is the registered keeper? The registered keeper is the person whose name appears on Section 5 of the Registration Certificate of the vehicle (also called the log book). That person is responsible for taxing the vehicle, doing the MOT and maintaining it in good condition. Traffic violations like parking tickets and speeding fines will be sent to that same person as well.Who is the legal owner? The legal owner is the owner of the car, that is, the person who has a legally enforceable claim to the car. That person has the right to sell the vehicle while the registered keeper is not in a position to do that (if registered keeper and owner are different). Most of the time, the legal owner and the registered keeper will be the same person. However in cases where a car is leased, then the legal owner will normally be the company and the registered keeper the employee who uses the car. Another example is when a father buys a car for the son to use ? the father may want to retain all rights to the car but give the responsibility of day to day running to the son. Most car insurance companies will insist that the policy holder be the registered keeper to keep things simple and will not quote for cases where they are different. By law, the policy holder does not need to be the registered keeper but you will be narrowing your choices of insurers if you are in this situation.Source:- Here Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/14427-witness-request-assault-honda-civic-925-am-peck-rye-common/#findComment-390720 Share on other sites
