Chelsea Hospital Chapel.

Bring a little cheer to the Old Pensioners.

They could even sing your favorite hymns.

All for the price of a drink for each (that's only about 350 In Pensioners )

TEN OLD Soldiers ( Chelsea Pensioners)?

Ten Old Soldiers Parading for inspection in a line,

one forgot to put his boots on and then there were Nine.

Nine Old Soldiers sitting up talking very late,

one dropped off to sleep and then there were Eight.

Eight Old Soldiers went on a holiday to Devon,

one said he'd stay there and then there were Seven.

Seven Old Soldiers sparing with swordsticks,

one sliced himself in halves and then there were Six.

Six Old Soldiers dancing and twisting in the jive

one tied himself in knots and then there were Five.

Five Old Soldiers leaving through a revolving door,

one kept going back and then there were Four.

Four Old Soldiers went out on a shopping spree,

one did not get there in time and then there were Three.

Three Old Soldiers catching the train at Waterloo,

one could not get his kitbag in so now there is Two.

Two Old Soldiers sitting on the beach in the sun,

one got chatted up by a Dolly Bird and then there was One.

Just one Old Soldier left thinking what could be done,

he went and joined up again and there was none.

Hi SCSB,

Might be worth telling your friend to take a look at this page;

http://www.suzannejames.co.uk/venue-list.asp

I guess each person's idea of 'funky' will vary, and of course if they actually want to hold their civil ceremony at the venue it will need to be licensed - not sure all the above suggestions are, though that doesn't stop you holding your reception there (or getting married the day before 'officially' at registry office, then having unofficial 'ceremony' of your choice on the day itself at any venue - you can even get a guy who will act as a 'Phoney Bishop' (or not a Bishop, but any person of your choosing on the day) to oversee your personal 'vows'). Sue has his name and contact details.

I think a lot of the venues on her page are unusual, and not ones I new about previously - Wilton's Music Hall seems pretty cool to me, as is Perch Studios, and the Garden Museum with the right lighting.

Hope this helps.

    • Near the loos. Did this really need to happen?
    • Does anyone have any experience reducing the solar gain from their windows and roof lights?  E.g. using window film, low u-value glass and/or external shutters? What and who do you recommend?  How much did it cost and when?  We have a fairly standard south facing ED terrace with Velux windows (internal blinds only), a roof light, uPVC double-glazed sash windows and wooden double-glazed french door all fitted 2015ish. Trying to future proof the house against future hot summers without resorting to air con.
    • I think these kids are starting to come from the park into residential road I live of a road very close to the park and just had a kid knock on door stood with his tongue hanging out clearly trying to intimidate and his friend was laughing. Is there anything  I can do in terms of registering it with the police ?   edit - called 101 and gave a very detailed  description (sorry I’d have deleted the post  if I could !)
    • Well, he’s just turned up. 17 days.  very thin and seems a bit traumatised. Presumably been trapped somewhere.  I’d love to know where!
