jaywalker
It is a general principle that outsiders see the tacit predispositions of insiders more clearly than insiders could (Elias). This is one of the major reasons why, tribally, we tend to form alliances that idealise our own virtues and denigrate the other (to keep them from forcing a revelation).I think we should be more resolute in thinking of ourselves as subjects of myth. So when the other appears, even if, as here, in a restaurant review, we should think that there is probably truth in it. Our default position should be to think of the possibility of that truth, not denigrate the other. DovertheRoad
Well remembered Steveo. All got a bit messy and surreal towards the end when the place got really busy but nobody was actually drinking (or eating). Anyone recall the night they ran out of all booze at 7pm? Jeremy
I remember going to the drum a couple of times, it was completely dead apart from a couple of old boys at the bar and the bulldog. I never quite worked out why people on here seemed fond of it.. until now..
