Two mornings this week, men with litter picking up sticks have walked past the house as I've been digging out the car.

I dunno but is litter a priority right now? And how do they find it? Perhaps they have some crisp bag detection device.

Sometimes the council is just plain dumb, other times, its behaviour passeth all understanding.

?We have virtually cornered the world market in Egyptian salt and we are sitting on a kind of salt mountain.?

Rye Lane gets filthy in the snow/slush mind - just a bit of sweeping would help there.

Clearly sending anyone out litter picking in areas covered in snow and ice is as the subject line says - stupid, stupid, stupid - it's also contrary to Southwarks Winter Service Plan.

I've contacted officers to ask why this obsurd working is going on when we need street cleaners - as per the Winter Service Plan - to be used to help clear our streets of snow and ice.

James I ve rung the council this morning to no avail to ask them to grit our streets- although routes nearbye are accessable we cannot reach them through our inaccessible ice rink residential roads. I need to drive because my work entails coming home late at night as a performer and last night I had to cancel my gig even though it is only in North London and North London had no problems. As a pedestrian, crossing these roads is taking your life in your hands as it is so slippy.
