So your thesis that the youth weren't about explaining his lack of success looks pretty false. It's hardly surprising he got interned in 1940 given the security situation and his opinions.

Look for where the exchange became insulting (as opposed to merely swapping or questioning opinions) and get off that pedestal of thinking you are right (or in it).

My opinion was not 'tosh' ...... nor was it something that anyone other than a poser would use the word 'thesis' about, as if over-describing something you then knock down heightens the satisfaction you give yourself.

I expressed horror about reminders of a period when our establishment contained a member who was far worse even than Powell, more full of hate and more intent on whipping up people's emotions.

There IS such a figure that is manipulating young disaffected people now.
