GTA Vice City is my favourite GTA Game by some distance, but it has a few REALLY annoying missions, all of which involve some sort of race or time trial.

I'm nearing the end of the game, but am struggling to pass "The Driver", a road race, in which they give you a really shit car, against speedy gonzales! And one where you have to drop fliers for your porn film from a sea plane which is a bitch to control!!!

I just want to shoot some shit!

Plugged in my xbox yesterday for the first time in Aaaaages! Had a quick look at GTA4, and am still a bit meh about it. And the controls seem sluggish when you're moving the character around (although the driving is pretty cool)

Have decided that I must finish Undead Nightmare. Cowboys and Zombies, now there's a game with everything!

Has anyone played Hitman Absolution? It's only ?10 - ?12 now, and I'm tempted, but would be interested to hear thoughts.

Do you enjoy Hitman games normally or is it just this one that?s got your interest?

I always liked the idea of them more than the execution, so I gave up on them long ago. But I did see that the series fans were quite divided by this one. Download the demo maybe?

Looks like you aren?t alone with that Vice City mission

I've never played a hitman game to be honest, I knew this wasn't the first, but hadn't realised there was a series. Just seen the box and picked it up several times but never got as far as taking it to checkout. I'll have a look on youtube and maybe try the demo.

Like I need to start more games!

Good to see I'm not alone with that race mission. I think it's made even harder by the touch screen controls. Sure it would still be hard, but I think a controller would make it a bit easier.

Not a game at all, but just umming and aahing about this ipad app.

I downloaded the teaser (all 1.6gb of it, goodbye Baldurs gate for the time being) and it's clearly beautifully crafted, sounded great through headphone amp and switching between the 4 classic performances whilst seeing the scrolling score with colour coded key shifts is insightful for a musical layman like me.

Will be a good learning resource for the kids...in about 8 years time.

but a tenner...ouch!

Mind you, a CD of it would come in at a similar price.

Hurrah!!!! Just took their advise (put a fast car outside the police station) and won it. You've no idea how many times over the weekend I've tried and failed that race. I'd even tried putting fast cars along the route, but they were never there when I got there. Must be something about the police station spot.

Cheers dude.

Was it June I last posted about Last of Us?

wow.. I really don't get much time to game

But I finished it last night at that ending is quite something. Still feeling the emotional punch 12 hours later

Even geekier, I'm listening to a podcast by the Watch Out For Fireballs guys who are doing a 3 part run through of FFVII - which is taking me waaay back on a nostalgia trip - worth checking it out. Even if it's just for the following line alone

?Sephiroth is having a family reunion at the North Crater and you, you?re bringing the potato salad?

and proud, el pibe, and proud!

Otta - I see you playing lots of great titles on iOS but I haven't tried any of them because I can't see the controls behaving themselves. But you seem to be doing fine - so are the controls ok on thing like Max Payne and GTA?

GTA fine. Max Payne can be a little annoying when aiming for something then lifting your finger from the screen which shifts your aim off of your target.

Basically not great for very fine control, but had no probs at all with GTA3 on Android (galaxy s3) or vice city on ipod touch.

Well there are the GTA and Max Payne titles. There's good old World of goo. I quite enjoyed a game called "little crane" where you drive a... little crane. You have to do things like pick up a basketball and drop it through the hoop. Fills a few minutes.

There is a good but I think quite big game called "Bard's Tale" which is quite funny, but I've not gotten in too deep yet.

IOS probably still superior for games at the moment.

I keep meaning to get in to xbox again, I want to finish LA Noir, and give Skyrim a crack. I'm just intimidated because I know it will take over every living thought.

It is immense. I had to make a concerted effort to actually finish the main storyline and not just wander around enjoying the world. There are five side stories as well, each with their own quest line. Plus all the random bits. And that's before the DLC.

Not sure how much time I've spent playing it, but it's a lot. Probably only explored half the map properly.

Talking of the map, it put me off a bit, I found it quite hard to read, especially on my old telly. Oblivion map looked much clearer.

Hopefully when I get round to trying it on the new HDTV it will be easier.

This probably isn't a problem for anyone with normal eyesight.

I can see what you mean. It can be a pain to find some of the places. There are plenty of maps kicking around online, so you could print one out. I did, then realised how many locations I hadn't been to yet!

HD will make a huge difference to all of your games. Any text is *much* easier to read.

    • Very happy to recommend Tommy Rooney's excellent work again. He's been servicing my boiler for years now, but this time he swiftly fixed a leaky radiator valve. I put out a call on Friday and it was repaired - and improved - by Monday evening. I asked him if he had an opinion about my other radiators, and he reassured me as he pointed out the leaky bathroom rad was a non-standard length, which was why it caused problems. There followed a brief but detailed history of improvements in regulations for valves and fittings over the years, so that I could understand precisely what the issue was. How many plumbers will do that for you? "I've just got a memory for weird things," says Tommy modestly.

    • Labour have changed a number of things overnight.   1. VAT on school fees - this has resulted in 25,000 moving until state education. 2. Increasing NICs adding billions to the cost of going to work. 3. Introducing the Employment Rights Bill causing employers to stop hiring. This and item 2 have added 100,000 people to the unemployment scrapheap. These are also causing businesses to relocate further harming the economy. 4. Scrapping all the small boats deterrents meaning 60,000 illegal migrants have arrived in small boats since they were elected. 5. Dishing out huge public sector payroses with no conditions so we have a massively increased payroll and doctors etc arestill going out on strike. 6.changed IHT and non domicile tax rules causing 16,500 millionaires to leave the UK and stop paying any tax here at all forever. 7. Alongside 6, leaving the budget up until an historically late period after the last budget has caused a house price crash, killing the market and decimating government stamp duty receipts. 8. Their profligate borrowing (£100bn extra in just one year) to fund all their lavish promises means the government can now only borrow at the highest ever yields on records. They are more beholden to the bond markets than Liz Truss was. 9. The rate of inflation has doubled under this government. It was a healthy 2% when they came in. For most of the last year, as a result of all of the above it is now nearly 4%.   These are all decisions the Labour government took that have immediate cause and effect.  Its no good harking back to 15 years ago. The current administration was gifted the fastest growing economy in the G7 and within 15 months they have destroyed it.    And things are only going to get worse this winter.
