It's not necessarily juniper. It depends on the type of birth you want - labour ward vs home for example. I want a highly medicalised birth on labour ward so I'm with Ivy Green midwives. Different teams have different specialisms. At your booking in appointment you should be able to go over your thoughts about the birth and then you'll be assigned to a team.

thats true, but if you want the equivalent of what you had with oakwood then i would advise getting booked in with juniper now - i was with the lanes last time and i have had exactly the same sort of experience with Juniper (though i had a homebirth and so possibly was assessed/allocated in some way I'm not aware of)

i just rang them direct when i realised i was pregnant and so was registered with them ahead of my official booking in appt, if that makes sense.

I don't want a home birth and don't have mental health problems and I am with Juniper.

My details with registered with Kings via the midwife linked to my GP Surgery and then I received a booking appointment which had allocated me to Juniper before I had any discussions regarding my wishes. They mentioned a home birth as I was low risk and had a straightforward labour last time, and I refused saying I wanted to be in Kings.

I'm also with Juniper, and am in two minds over whether I want a home birth or not (mainly due to having another young child about). Juniper is the equivalent of what the Lanes used to be. Allocation is based on postcode, which benefits me as it used to be that it was a midwife caseload team assigned to specific GPs, and I missed out as I'm with the Gardens.
If it's a homebirth team you're looking for then it's the Birchtree midwives (with Kings) you need...leave a message on this number and they usually call back the same day: 020 3409 0704. This team is what Brierley used to be. I just had my third baby with them and they were truly amazing!!

    • I really have to smile as I was the c one, years ago who posted about what Gala was.. had not a clue, but drove and drive regularly. Felt such a fool at the time but wow, years later post still comes up.. with comments. Still don’t understand why a lot of park is cordoned off and glad not a resident overlooking park.. must be so noisy but now dates have been kindly supplied, those that don’t want to chill and listen to music in their flats/houses can up sticks and explore UK or abroad. Totally understand that in a built up area and millions in London, music events take place all over the capital to allow access to all.  Brockwell  Park, Dulwich Park, don’t hear anything going on in or around Telegraph Hill or indeed Horniman Gardens.. Crystal Palace I believe do their own thing.  Do these events , clearly charge, provide their own insurance, public liability, crowd control, first aiders, security and policing? Etc..
    • Personally I think the second weekend has always been a tactical ploy with no real intention of going ahead with it. The council then turn it down (saying they have listened to us, which of course they haven’t) and announce that they will only license one weekend. GALA get the result that they want - job done. I wouldn’t be at all surprised if the council even suggested this ploy, they are so desperate to keep the event.
    • Hello Tori, which of the three incumbent Labour Councillors are you hoping to replace?
    • I just checked the Southwark Council website and it stated:   All responses to the consultation will be recorded and a ‘consultation findings’ report will be published once feedback has been reviewed. The review process involves collating feedback from a number of council teams and external agencies - the aim will be to publish the report as soon as possible after the consultation has closed and no later than the 31 January 2026. The report will be published on this site. The use of bold type on the date is the Council's, not mine. They are late. I wonder why?
