catma
The posters in Bellendon Road shop windows from the police indicating a spate (is that word acceptable???????;-)) of car break ins might indicate that there is something to be alert to. As does the sense that an area is being targeted. (I too was broken into during the summer - ripped open front sash, but only ancient, worthless work laptop taken. There may not be a quantifiable/verifiable increase but the location seems to be currently in vogue for the robbing fraternity. If this makes people more conscious of their window/door security then all to the common good I say. Wish I had taken more notice!! And if that's the one you're referring to then it's been up in the window practically since I moved into the area five years ago. Lock your doors and close your windows by all means - but do that because you live in London in 2011, not because you perceive you live in some high-risk area. sheilarose
A new website was launched at midnight which gives the exact figures and locations for all types of street crime and antisocial behaviour in a particular area: http://www.police.uk.
