Can anyone help? I'm looking for swimming lessons for a 3.5 year old ideally Weds or Thurs afternoon, where adult wouldn't need to go into water. We would like our nanny to take our eldest daughter to the swimming lessons but she will need to look after youngest daughter at the same time

Peckham Pulse and East Dulwich are our closest swimming pools but our nanny does have a car.

Do swimming lessons tend to have massive waiting lists like most things in this area?

Any suggestions much appreciated

Singing the praises of Crystal Palace. My 4yo has swimming with the lovely Sandy at 12.30 on Thursdays - there are only 3 children in her group, changing room & showers have plenty of room, lots of parking etc. Also has the advantage of diving training in the diving pool afterwards - this keeps her entertained for ages (watching, not doing!)

I have the timetable for THe Bridges in Sydenham and they have classes for 3 year old beginners on Wed at 11 and Thur at 5.30, not sure whether they have place. If you are interested give them a ring on 02086597711.

I rang last week to book my nearly 4 year old in for lessons on a friday afternoon and they had a few places left and he starts this week. Went to pay today and it is a little hidden but not that difficult to get to in a car...

My son is also in this class and loves it. I cannot believe it is so quiet. There are 3 kids at the moment.

You have to book through https://www.sportscourses.org/home/default.aspx

    • This week's edition of The Briefing Room I found really useful and impressively informative on the training aspect.  David Aaronovitch has come a long way since his University Challenge day. 😉  It's available to hear online or download as mp3. https://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/m002n7wv In a few days time resident doctors -who used to be known as junior doctors - were meant to be going on strike. This would be the 14th strike by the doctors’ union since March 2023. The ostensible reason was pay but now the dispute may be over without more increases to salary levels. The Government has instead made an offer to do something about the other big issue for early career doctors - working conditions and specialist training places. David Aaronovitch and guests discuss what's going on and ask what the problem is with the way we in Britain train our doctors? Guests: Hugh Pym, BBC Health Editor Sir Andrew Goddard, Consultant Gastroenterologist Professor Martin McKee, Professor of European Public Health, London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine Mark Dayan, Policy Analyst, Nuffield Trust. Presenter: David Aaronovitch Producers: Caroline Bayley, Kirsteen Knight, Cordelia Hemming Production Co-ordinator: Maria Ogundele Sound Engineers: Michael Regaard, Gareth Jones Editor: Richard Vadon
