Hello forum mums (and Dads?)

I'm not sure how many of you were planning to head down today, but...er...don't. Unfortunately today's session has had to be cancelled- my son has been up all night (not kidding) coughing and we're both exhausted and unwell (in his case).

Big apologies- there will be a notice on the door in any case, explaining this. We'll resume as normal next week :)

On another note, does anyone else have a baby that seems to have been constantly ill since October? Two rounds of antibiotics, an inhaler, truckloads of baby olbas oil and karvol and room vaporisers and tixylix have done...not much. Tired of this now...

You have my complete sympathy - I have a 5 year old who has been ill since the week before Christmas (and I seem to be getting everything she gets too!) Proper full on flu, then a crampy stomach bug thing last week and now a hacking cough and a tight chest and wheeziness. Off to the doctor this morning. Somehow my 2 year old is avoiding it all!

Hi Fuscia,

We did end up in Kings last Saturday- he had a chest infection and was prescribed a course of anti-biotics. Seemed to work nicely- within 36 hours he was well again. This time, no wheezing, clear snot, and a tickly cough. No temperature. He does have asthma (like moi) so it seems that any sniffle always turns into major dramas.

However, I am starting to get worried about his immune system or potential allergies. My sister had leukaemia as a child and it started off like this D: (constant colds etc- she had one for about 4 months on/off as well as other symptoms, not to alarm anyone with a snotty child) With this in mind, we have made an appointment AGAIN with the GP. For next Thursday. REALLY must change GP as a matter of urgency.

My little girl has been on and off ill with colds, coughs etc since November as well. She was better for a while when we were away in sunny Egypt and then coming back she had hand, foot and mouth, followed by a snotty horrid cold and a lingering cough as well as the usual teething ills. Since going back to work just before Christmas I have never managed to spend 3 days at work and have been up most nights. We had a good week last week and she seemed to be sleeping through again although she is still hacking with the cough. Last night she was up from 3:30 - 5:30 (teeth I think) uuugghhh.

She has excema on her cheeks which has been awful most of the winter as well and a runny eye which we are waiting for a referral to Kings. I have been back and forth to the GP constantly but they have just said that the coughs take a long time to go away. Now I am sick with the cold.

Okay moan over. I think that it is normal especially if they spend time with other children. I feel your pain though.

Hi Ruth sorry to hear Seb is ill again, poor little man. I posted a few weeks ago because my toddler has been experiencing the same for months thread

Sorry not any real advice, just some similar stories and my sympathies. Re:cough my little girl has just about *touches wood* got rid of hers. It was waking her up at night for about a month :( Not what you want to hear I know, but just as I was about to consider night time asthma it stopped. After doing some reading I purchased a cool mist humidifier for her room. I was about to use it when the coughing stopped, but I read lots of good reviews. Might be worth getting one to see if it helps? They are also great in general for any coughs, illness when sleeping at night. x

    • What was he doing on the stage at Glastonbury? Or on the stage at the other concert in Finsbury Park? Grinning like a Cheshire cat whilst pissed and stoned 20 somethings on the promise of free internet sung-- Oh Jeremy Corbyn---  What were his policies for Northern mining towns with no jobs or infrastructure? Free Internet and university places for youngsters. What were his other manifesto pledges? Why all the ambiguity over Brexit?  I didn't like Thatcher, Blair or May or Tony but I respected them as politicians because they stood by what they believed in. I respect all politicians across the board that stick to their principles. Corbyn didn't and its why he got  annihilated at the polls. A socialist, anti imperialist and anti capitalist that said he voted for an imperialist and pro capitalist cabal. He refused to say how he'd vote over and over again until the last knockings. He did so to appease the Islington elite and middle class students he was courting. The same people that were screaming that Brexit was racist. At the same time the EU were holding black and Asian immigrants in refugee camps overseas but not a word on that! Corbyn created and courted a student union protest movement that screamed at and shouted down anyone not on the left . They claimed Starmer and the centre right of labour were tories. He didn't get elected  because he, his movement and policies were unelectable, twice. He turned out not to have the convictions of his politics and died on his own sword.    Reform won't win an election. All the idiots that voted for them to keep out Labour actually enabled Labour. They'll be back voting tory next time.    Farage wouldn't be able to make his millions if he was in power. He's a very devious shyster but I very much doubt he'd actually want the responsibility that governance requires.
    • The purge of hard left members that were part of Corbyn's, Mcdonnel's and Lansmans momentum that purged the party of right wing and centrist members. That's politics. It's what Blair did to win, its what Starmer had to do to win. This country doesn't vote in extreme left or right governments. That's partly why Corbyn lost  We're pretty much a centrist bunch.  It doesn't make it false either. It's an opinion based on the voting patterns, demography and statistics. Can you explain then why former mining constituencies that despise the tories voted for them or abstained rather than vote for Corbyns Labour?  What is the truth then? But he never got elected!!! Why? He should have been binned off there and then. Why he was allowed to hang about is an outrage. I hold him party responsible for the shit show that we've had to endure since.
    • Depends on what the Barista says doesnt it? There was no physical confrontation with the driver, OP thinks she is being targetted when she isnt. These guys work min wage under strict schedules so give them a break unless they damage your stuff
