nylonmeals
I know that all babies are individuals with different sleeping habits and patterns but I'd be interested to know if there is an average time that babies start to drop their morning nap and just have the long lunch time one instead. Thanks! Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/15504-dropping-the-morning-nap/ Share on other sites

Pickle
My son dropped his around 18 months (although he's a lover of sleep and still has a nap after lunch and he's 4), daughter dropped hers much earlier, around 9 or 10 months from memory. snowboarder
Little sb was 16m - it was quite hard work though and we had to do it gradually! Knew he needed to as taking ages to get to sleep at nap times and bedtime, but when we first tried it he had complete meltdown at about 11.30 over lunch! So I cut morning nap to 10/15 mins and gradually phased out, with super early lunch and nap at 12.15 ish. It took a while for the big nap to be as long as 2 hrs too as he was used to 1/1.5 hr slots. I do think it depends what time they sleep till in the morning - he's always been an early riser, so going all the way to lunchtime is still sometimes a bit of a struggle, esp if out in car/buggy late morning. pebbles
Both mine were around 15 months and I did it gradually - if they were and out and about they wouldn't have one but if at home they would. It probably took about 6 weeks to drop it completely - i'm still in the middle of dropping my no2's morning nap. crystal7
E was 18 months and then I had to do it gradually. Like Little SB she always wakes early (often before 6) so getting to midday or so is hard work!
