louisiana
Ian Brown. Now there's a vocalist who can't hold an in-tune note to save his pretty face, especially in a live performance. (And yes, I saw him everywhere from t'north of England to down in Barcelona with the Roses in the 90s, and last time a year or two back at the Brixton Academy).BUT, what magic James Lavelle weaves with an Ian Brown vocal. Magic. If it were not for Ian's flat northern vowels, it would not be the same.(PS I was born in a northern town. Does that count as being a northerner?)(PPS North is anywhere north of Elephant. But especially north of Leeds or so.) Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/15765-northerners-loveem-really/ Share on other sites

Scribe
In the north of England:"Us" is singular. "Thaa" is plural. "Thaas" is plural possessive. "He were a southern bugger" is an accepted legal defence. All caravans have a satellite dish attached to them. And in some cases, they're worth more than the caravan. fyvum
North was considered a line struck between Oxford and Cambridge and north of that line was forever up North. Below that line was always dahn saaf and sometimes down south.....northerners are far more straight forward to deal with and to talk to, as they always call a spade a jockin' shovel!
