Ian Brown.

Now there's a vocalist who can't hold an in-tune note to save his pretty face, especially in a live performance. (And yes, I saw him everywhere from t'north of England to down in Barcelona with the Roses in the 90s, and last time a year or two back at the Brixton Academy).

BUT, what magic James Lavelle weaves with an Ian Brown vocal. Magic. If it were not for Ian's flat northern vowels, it would not be the same.

(PS I was born in a northern town. Does that count as being a northerner?)

(PPS North is anywhere north of Elephant. But especially north of Leeds or so.)

The rest of the time it's pure "telephone" South of England "posh"

Nette.:)

North was considered a line struck between Oxford and Cambridge and north of that line was forever up North.

Below that line was always dahn saaf and sometimes down south.

....northerners are far more straight forward to deal with and to talk to,

as they always call a spade a jockin' shovel!

    • There was a Saturday afternoon crowd of enthusiasts, and at other times the owner might have been off acquiring stock. He also repaired air guns, which he also sold. He stocked edged weapons, uniforms, including antique uniforms, air guns and ammo and starting pistols and shot. Some medals and other militaria. Quite a lot of ex service chit chat on a Saturday. I had an amateur interest, didn't deal a lot, in English pattern swords and other mainly 19th century militaria. And made some good purchases there. I'm afraid WWII and later events was the major focus of most of the regulars.
    • Did anyone actually venture in to that place? I recall it always being closed/very uninviting!

    • Why would mice move? It’s not so much they move as multiply and spread    copy and paste rather than cut and paste  mice can and should be dealt with.  But not easily or with guarantees  i would say most people in se22 reading this have mice. Whether they know it or not
