Turned up at a neighbours house yesterday.

Our cat Ellie escaped from the first floor window on Monday night (2nd July). We live on Daniels road in Nunhead, right opposite the entrance to Nunhead cemetary on Linden Grove. She's been an indoor cat the past 4 years and hasn't been outside since we moved here. She has thyroid issues so takes medicine twice per day, her health will suffer without this.

Personality - 16 yrs old but doesn't look it, loves people, quiet and trusting, doesn't like to be held but loves to be stroked. She won't sit in your lap but will lie on knees and shins. Very likely to seek out a human to feed/care for her as she did when she was a stray - Celia Hammond rescued her when she became ill.

Identifying traits - she can't miaow because of throat surgery so it comes out like a raspy croaky miaow. Tabby fur with cream 'eyeliner', cream around her nose and chin, white whiskers, fluffy cream fur on her belly that is a bit droopy.

Microchipped and neutered.

Couple of videos of her uploaded to you tube > https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCbbw5FOtfeQAti15vrWuZxA

If anyone can recommend a reputable leaflet distribution company I would be grateful, we are desperate to get her back 07583632213 / 07412338041

    • A couple of updates to this terrible event:   1) In 2021, two cousins (one from Penge and one from Streatham) were convicted of murder and sentenced to a minimum of 23 years in prison. The Southwark News has a summary of the awful day. https://southwarknews.co.uk/area/dulwich/donnell-rhule-dulwich-knife-murderer-cousins-sentenced-to-life-for-killing-18-year-old/    2) Last week, a female prison officer from Forest Hill was sentenced to eight months in prison for pursuing a relationship with one of the two murderers while at HMP Brixton. https://metro.co.uk/2025/12/15/probation-officer-admits-relationship-prisoner-hmp-belmarsh-25501445/ https://www.thesun.co.uk/news/38203627/probation-officer-jailed-illicit-relationship-murderer-secure-prison/
    • The Commons Public Accounts Committee questioned both the CEO and MD of Capita yesterday, at their last meeting before the recess:  https://committees.parliament.uk/event/25889/formal-meeting-oral-evidence-session/.  In October they'd already expressed concern that Capita might not  be able to efficiently retake over responsibility for the administration within the timescale. Given the joint statement recently issued by Capita and the Cabinet Office I'm not sure that contacting an MP is going to add much, other than venting what I think most of us can probably appreciate of what those affected are likely  to be thinking and feeling; unless perhaps, and I hope it's not needed, to report on deficiencies in the immediate rescue actions.
    • She's responded, but I'm sure I read something in the Guardian consumer advice column. Might be some pointers if you're stuck
    • Two for Ratcliffe, the obvious one:   And one simply because it has the word  "You are nothing but blind fascists" in it.  Oh and a good song too.   Haven't listened to this for years.  Bloody good!
