How do you find a childminder /nanny share

Can anyone recommend a reliable website for finding registered childminder / nanny / nannyshare? I am looking for one of the three for baby boy nearly 4 months in Nunhead area.

I seem to recall there was a free website that listed available childminders at least but can't find it.

Any suggestions much appreciated

direct.gov and will bring up all registered care in your area, if you type in postcode.

Should add not all registered childminders are on the direct.gov list - I wasn't up until around 6 months ago.

Simplychildcare.com. Also, the woman that runs it is absolutely brilliant and if you ring her with a query she'll take lots of time to give you some advice.

the council can send you an updated list of CMs with vacancies. For nannies and shares I also recommend simplychildcare. Or here for finding a nanny share family ...

Nannyshare.co.uk (I think) allows nannies and families to advertise: you put in your postcode and search your area for compatible families.

If you are after a nursery place the sooner the better in some cases as they are few ones that take babies and the spaces get filled quickly. I have seen pregnant mums put down the name of their future offspring on waiting lists at Asquith.

If you are after a childminder or nanny you can wait until near the time you need them - maybe make enquiries a couple of months in advance.
