  1. Been trying to vote in the poll but just keeps saying 'You have already voted'. It's had over 3,000 views but less than 450 votes.
  2. I hate scooters for young children! Was nearly knocked down by child and scooter this morning with Mum no-where to be seen and this was on a zebra crossing. Car driver very irate and having a go at me when Mum was miles away!
  3. Come to whatever conclusion you like rendel. I learn something every day!
  4. That's great Gillian. Shame the OP hasn't added any comments after their post last year.
  5. I didn't say it was 'lovely they've been driven away' but lovely I could now park my car!
  6. I learned basic sewing skills from my Mum and also Kingsdale secondary school in the home economics department so have always done this by hand e.g. taking up skirts and trousers and it's always been ok. Then again there is always something new to learn.
  7. Can see what you mean about contact details!
  8. Just to say that bike theft is rife in the area but other than that it's 'safe and nice' to live in!
  9. You can park at the North Dulwich brownies. They have a very small car park but you can park in the streets outside at 6.
  10. Just been watching the Queen's 90th celebrations etc. while browsing the forum. Shirley Bassey has always been a favourite singer of mine as my Mum and Dad had loads of her records. Just wondering why she had to change the lyrics to such a famous song? Anyone notice?
  11. No I'm not aware of this. You can quote whatever you like. Are you a psychiatrist?
  12. Not sure what you find 'Hilarious' about it ratty and rahrah quoting 'their'? As long as 'their' workplaces provided car parking spaces it would have been ok but unfortunately it's had a knock on effect for people living in the area and I'm not a person who wants to drive healthcare/teachers away. The OP has posted about parking near ED train station and then disappeared.
  13. I'm afraid it's a big plus in terms of parking for people who live in the local community. Hospitals and schools in the local community need to find space for their workers to park cars if they want to. Schools and hospitals in the area have expanded but don't seem to have this in their scenario!
  14. Pre-internet days I used to organise swaps by putting up posters in the local schools, parks and area.
  15. It takes a while (probably around 18 months - 2 years) but by then ED will have a lot of parking problems and will be crying out for a CPZ. Lambeth imposed a CPZ nearby Ruskin Park, near to King's College Hospital years ago and it's had a knock on effect into other streets. It's so lovely that I'm able to park my car after the North Dulwich CPZ came into effect. The road is more or less empty for most of the day as railway station parkers and King's College hospital workers, school workers, have had to go elsewhere! They came from everywhere though, not just local. One bloke used to park up everyday outside, change into his lycra stuff and cycle off to wherever! He had a permit badge for somewhere miles outside of London. It's ok to park before 12 or after 2pm so it's not restricting everyone like school users, but train station users etc. now have to find other ways.
  16. Lorraine, maybe contact the school upfront in the office. I've found a lot of nursery/school websites are not up to date.
  17. If it's in Southwark (or any other borough) then the nursery is free i.e. the morning or afternoon session is free and has always been.
  18. Yes, there's an ad in the South London Press newspaper with all the details.
  19. Rumpole or not, it's a shame the Tavern closed in the first place. Had many a nice meal with family and friends there and their salad bar was lovely.
  20. Spot on ianr, it prob is an Indian runner duck.
  21. It was much taller, had longer legs and slower than a normal duck. It then stared at me intently so I left it as it might have had babies nearby!
  22. Just heard it. Very loud rumbling, thundery sound. Thought it was thunder first of all as my cats ears pricked up before I heard it.
  23. The trike has been in park since yesterday afternoon and still there this evening. Push along toy and baby comforters also left. PM for location.
  24. Anyone know what this bird is called? Is it a heron? Was walking slowly amongst the bushes around a park pond.
  25. Ahh, hope the cats owner has been found.
