Random guy knocking on door late at night

Recommended Posts

Hi,

May be nothing but with other crime in the area I thought better to give a heads up.

At about 10.30pm tonight a man knocked on our door on East Dulwich Road, i said hello through the blinds a couple of times then he said he must have the wrong address. I saw he didn't try the flats upstairs and walked off down the road. It all seemed a bit odd to me as it's fairly hard to confuse our address with others. He was a black male, bald, fairly stocky, looked mid 30s. Has anyone else experienced similar?

Not sure it's worth a 999 call but have been on hold to 101 for 35 mins now, perhaps can report online?

We had this on Friday night, Court Lane, we were in the back of the house, lights not on in the front. Doorbell rang about 9.30/10, complete stranger on the doorstep. He just asked if this was [our address] - pretty obvious with door number then wandered off. Opportunistic burglar?? Not worth a 999 call, similar problem on hold with 101.

This is unlikely to be random.

Had the same thing happen us. But I couldn't be bothered to get out of bed. Next thing they'd kicked the font door in expecting an empty house. I jumped out of bed and chased them out of the house and called the Police.

Stranger knocking at that time please call Police 101 no emergency number. Might be genuine. Much more likely someone looking for an empty home to burgle.

That mustve been scary James! Was that recently and where abouts are you?

101 hold time was a joke and top police chief says it's a waste of time

What else can we do?

Thanks,

Elliot

At 11.10pm, a stranger, saying he had a delivery for my house number, knocked at our door.

he was driving a Mercedes commercial van, Sprinter type, very large. Looked like a Polish reg LRV422

The address of the boxes were for a different 53m in Thamesmead !

All a bit strange.

Now the school holidays have kicked in I would imagine there are lots of opportunists on the prowl.

Also criminals are taking advantage of the police cuts so they are not too bothered as it takes so long for them to respond to calls.

Make sure lights are on and even invest in a beware of dog sign.

    • As of yesterday 3rd June Exeter City Council will remove some ltns straight away after 82% of people out of 9000 opposed them other ltns will be removed during summer holidays.because of the negative impact . More congestion .longer journey times for transport/ emergency services /the disabled/  carers / school children . Even people living in the ltns .
    • Another thumbs up for Aria and AFE Plumbing Services. He came and replaced a really old tap that was badly corroded and dripping uncontrollably. Also solved another leak, replacing parts within minutes and working in a very confined space.  Excellent communication, very efficient, punctual, nice to have around and great at his job. Also very reasonable rates and he stuck to his quote, despite the job being somewhat more complex than he thought it would be. I'd definitely call on him again and can thoroughly recommend his services.
    • Yes old people can't read their smart phone screens.  Nor can they work out undemocratic changes to what is basically a trees, gardens and wildlife group. So the Trustees had to help them by excluding them. There there dear.  This was largely to protect the anonymous members of the new Transport Committee as they pick and choose who to listen to.  And who is the Chair of the committee? I thought it was Laurie Johnson.  Was she huddling in anonymity down at the front?   Just asking. I forgot to say that the voting slips tiold all the old people what to do - just like pages of instructions which arrived a few weeks ago.  Yes the voting slips had an instruction in bold telling the voters to vote against all the SGM motions, just to make sure the old dears didn't get muddled.
