Would anyone be interested if I was to organise a craft fair locally? It would be for handmade items only, maybe with some music going on as well. I used to organise this kind of thing before I moved to london, and east dulwich seems like the perfect place to try it again. There is a huge revival going on of handmade crafts.... So I was wondering who would be up for it, either as a seller or who would want to visit something like that? Also venue ideas would be great! Thanks!

jo77, pubs in ED are all very supportive of local events - I have a food tasting business and have held charity events at the Mag and Hoopers Bar, and have seen many more market-style events advertised! I'm sure if you ask around you'll have no trouble finding a venue. Upstairs at the EDT has always appealed to me, I just haven't got around to organising something there yet ;-)

If you want to include the idea of DIY crafts, The Scarlet Peacock runs some great classes locally.

Good luck!

I would be up for having a stall .. there's loads of up-cycling vintage crafty people in E D also tons of musicians/DJs' and the like ... go for it! Summertime on Goose green? or the constitutional hall on East Dulwich Grove is a great indoor space much under used ,there's even a stage there .

Hi everyone, sorry I have been away. Really excited to see lots of interest, from sellers and bands!

I'm definitely doing this, will check out venues. Suggestions welcome! Tables will be reasonably priced, profits will go to charity.

Thanks for the tip about the goose green fair, went last year and it was fab!

Thanks everyone, this is getting exciting! I am exploring venues so will keep you all posted. It will be for charity to raise money for children affected by domestic violence (I do this as a day job and currently one third of all services are having to close due to cuts).

Thanks for the offers of music, that will be fantastic!

    • Err, are you saying that the Greens are not a political rival to Labour? Funny how those convictions only come to light when many politicians don't get what they want....do you honestly think that Cllr McAsh would have defected had he been allowed to lead Southwark council? Absolutely 1000% not.
    • He's not acting according to his convictions though, he's acting entirely according to his own ambition and self interest.  I'd be very concerned if I was a parent of a child in the Primary School he teaches at. His new party advocate teaching primary school children how to use crack cocaine and heroin: https://metro.co.uk/2026/02/21/green-party-says-primary-school-children-should-be-taught-to-take-drugs-safely-27031825/   Anyway, I feel we will finally be well rid of him. I don't believe he will stand in this ward. He will have a much better chance of election in Nunhead and Queens Road.
    • I trust people who act  according to their convictions regardless of what other people might think. I don't trust people  who stick with things which no longer feel right for them. I was once a fully paid up member of the Labour party, and went to local meetings. Along with a number of other people I know, I left the Labour party and  no longer go to local meetings. The Labour party has moved a long way to the right, and the Green party now represents much of what Labour used to stand for. I don't think "political rivalry" has anything to do with it. I find that a very strange choice of words.
    • I don't really understand the question in this context? I mean, yes, most of us are motivated by a degree of self interest but Rockets is not standing for election as a local councillor( is he?), nor did he stand for leadership of the Council, so in that sense does not have the power or influence to significantly affect thousands of voter lives.
